All of his shows now are just rehash's of old shows. He was once the greatest live performer and now has become the most boring live performer to me. Same songs over and over. nothing new

Larry Graham, Jr. is an American baritone singer, musician, songwriter, and record producer. He is best known as both the bass guitar player in the popular and influential psychedelic soul/funk band Sly & the Family Stone, and as the founder and front man of Graham Central Station. He is credited with the invention of the slapping technique, which radically expanded the tonal palette of the bass, although he himself refers to the technique as "Thumpin' and Pluckin'." Evidence?

Substantiation for those comments? Because that is not an opinion. You are accusing someone of something.

I vote yes on deleting Larry. Something just never felt right about him. I just felt that in my gut and once Prince started singing "its mainly a spirtual thing" instead "its mainly a physical thing" it was all confirmed. Be buddies. Be friends whateva but damn! I had someone I admired once and thought the world of influence me to be involved in things where I was not true to myself. I let that person go and I am happier and healthier than ever.

LOL I noticed we went off topic on this shit. lol

Original poster's question: "Who's deleted Larry Graham's songs from Prince's concerts?"

Not "delete Larry from Prince's life."

If you like Larry that's cool, I was just expressing my opinion of Larry. I don't think Prince's funk sounds that much like Larry's. Maybe it's just Prince and his spin on the Larry style that I prefer, which ever. But if you like it, that's all good with me. I just don't.

I don't mind hearing them in concert, they are great environment songs...meaning when you are sharing the experience with 15000+ peeps jumping and hollering - its cool. But just chilling by myself listening to them recorded, they have a major MEH factor, so deleting it from a playlist sounds perfectly reasonable.

Just currious, is it just me that deletes all Larry Grahm songs from live recordings?

I can not listen to "Everyday People" or "Thank u Forlettin Me Be Mice Elf" , and "I Want to take you Higher". He has been playing those same songs over and over and over again for the last 10 years!

Larry is very talented and I am not taking that away from him. It's like the family member that shows up at parties that everyone is embarrassed by but won't acknowledge.

Again I am not complaing or saying Larry is not talented it's I just can't listen to these songs anymore.

I think that the thread be renamed to deleting Sly Stone, because all the songs u named are Sly's songs, recorded while Larry was in the group yes but written by Sly.

Where do you guys come up with these assessments of him? Seriously, I am curious. I mean, I don't care for his work with Prince either, but I don't see anything that would make me want to erase him from history!

For real & the topic is so tired!
Prince gives props to Maceo all the time also & has played Pass The Peas countless time. Just got done listening to 1 of the 2007 London shows @ Prince calls out or name checks him at least half of the show & yet & still folks hate on Larry. I don't see the same directed towards Maceo!

Thats the one.

If you're looking for a detailed account on their music, wait untill next year for this book: http://www.slystonebook.c...;Itemid=95

But if you wanna read about the drug infested evnironment, Sly's abusive nature, the gangsters, Larry's shenanigans and the whole works, you might like it.

I was frustrated because you'd think the author would analyze Sly's music, its much like the biography "Possessed" in terms of how one-sided the authors were toward their subjects. Still a fascinating book if you wanna read about the time period.

Looking at the bright side, it showed Sly's sense of humor. There was a quote I put as a siggy from the book.
