As much as Prince clearly loves Larry's music, I don't enjoy any of the Sly material as part of a Prince show.

Larry was and still is a legend for what he contributed in the '70s with and without Sly but with Prince it's not a good collaboration. lol

Just currious, is it just me that deletes all Larry Grahm songs from live recordings?

I can not listen to "Everyday People" or "Thank u Forlettin Me Be Mice Elf" , and "I Want to take you Higher". He has been playing those same songs over and over and over again for the last 10 years!

Larry is very talented and I am not taking that away from him. It's like the family member that shows up at parties that everyone is embarrassed by but won't acknowledge.

Again I am not complaing or saying Larry is not talented it's I just can't listen to these songs anymore.

I can see your point and I totally get what you mean. But this is just one of those things, most people seem to want to hear those particular songs over and over again. I'm confident that if he didn't play songs like "Thank you.." and "Hair" in concert, he would get very negative feedback from his audience. I know you didn't mention "Hair" in particular but that's what you mean still, right?

Just look at people like Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis. Both are still Tutti Fruttin' and singing songs like Lucille and Great Balls of Fire after all these years. They're pretty much stuck with their older hits and I don't think they mind so much, that's where the money is coming from.

Prince tried to get rid of his old material earlier but he failed, he's taken his back catalogue out on tour again. He's still waiting for the purple banana instead of rapping about days of wild.

I got nothing again Larry Graham as such - don't really like his music that much and his persona scares me a little. But I do find strange is that if he wants to give little bro prince spiritual guidance thats fine none of my business but to take the little bro's money too and perform with him seems to me to be a conflict of interest - do one or the other not both otherwise I feel I have to question his intent. Sorry just felt I had to say that

Some of you really are bitter cunts aren't you?

Fuck all to do except start yet another thread bashing Larry Graham. Because what? He was opening act on a few tour dates this year?

If Larry is there it's because Prince asked him too.

Larry played the KOKO in London earlier this year to a FULL house. Hundreds of young people were there loving the music. When Larry plays on his own he does not stick to that set-list, it is much more expansive.

Larry toured Europe very successfully on his OWN. Larry does not need Prince. His European tour was very well recieved, and nobody attended that thinking Prince would show up.

Why people here have to constantly direct venom at one man is beyond me.

'I'd like to delete Larry' - huh, huh, huh ... Do you think you are clever or intelligent? Really, I wonder for humanity. You were probably some of the same guys trampling over the pregnant woman to get into one of the London ONA soundchecks first in 2002 ...

In retrospect I feel Larry been a positive force in Prince's life. Not to get off subject but sometimes I think back with a sense of emptiness if MJ had a friend in the vain of Larry if things would have worked out different for Michael. My impression of Prince is that he seems to be a healthy individual physically, spiritually, and musically despite all of the ups and downs that a person goes through and all of us for that matter. Maybe thats the true genius of Larry.. a friend..a brother..a father..etc..for Prince,

Sorry to get away from your thread, but when Larry comes out with that captains white boat hat of his and starts struttin that guitar of his I still keep bobbin my head up and down with a smile.

i counted about 10. maybe my math has gotten a little rusty but it seems like a very small percentage of the millions of fans worldwide. do the few people who complain here really think they represent the majority of prince (and larry) fans?
