In praise of the Club Nokia jazz show 29/03/09 am

Just dusted this off and gave it a spin. I really dig this show I have played the Conga Room set much more but this is a really interesting concert. The setlist is constantly suprising so many rarities played and has a great vibe to it. I appreciate that it leans a bit too heavily on Renato Neto for some peoples taste but still a great set. I would have loved to have seen all three shows that night there isn't another musician in the world that could have pulled that off. smile
if you've gotta pay for things that you've done wrong I've gotta big bill coming at the end of the day- Gil Scott Heron

I was at all 3 & loved them all for different reasons. Theres no one on the planet who could pull off the diversity I witnissed that night. When he started off with WILMHOY & included Large Room w/... I could of died a prince fan that night & been happy. And as for seeing the power trio? Unbelievable & in such a great setting. I'm not a star gazer but it was pretty funny seeing the staff at the conga room restaurant scramble to find a table for Eddie Murphy. And to hear him finally play I like it There & start off with Im Yours? Really? I 'll never forget it. Funny thing is i didn't have a ticket to the conga room gig but some random guy literally pulled me into the club with 4 tickets & 2 other strangers right before P went on. Someone was looking out for me that night. The only reason i joined Lotus Flower was for access to buy the la tix & for me i got my $$ worth.
