'Debating purposes' ... funniest thing I've heard all day. Nice caveat, Bart.
This is a fucking advertisment. Even has the availability dates.
If I'm interested, I'll let some other sucker buy and upload it and then download for free.
But thanks for the promotion. Your campaign is tireless. To think I've been reading your comments for ten years now and they've never changed. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh ... the sweet, sweet memories.
Funk is its own reward. | |

Firstly, this is an obvious promo for the 'City Lights' bootleg series. You're not fooling anyone with half a brain cell, Bart.
Secondly, it's new money for old shit. Over 90% or more of this stuff is already out there, released by Sabotage. Just another money-maker as new recordings are scarce.
Old rope, new package.

Yeah, I just saw this! Now THIS is the Prince release that should be getting people pissin' their pants in anticipation, not whatever it was that sounded as new as yesterday's newspaper. Oh yeah...it was what came with yesterday's newspaper. Forgot that quick.

Maybe so, but I'd still rather pay for these re-packages than the drivel he's deciding to release himself.
Can you imagine if Prince himself announced he'd be releasing all of this, in crystal-clear quality on CD and even DVD (with proper packaging, liner notes, etc..)?? The money he'd make would be extraordinary, and the attention he'd be getting would be tenfold, WITHOUT having to make some silly statement just to grab attention. But, he's too cheap to put much money into a release, especially one about his "past". That's why all you get these days with his releases are inserts or paper covers with very little artwork and even fewer notes.

Yes, these are advertisements. Posted here for debate and discussion. Much like the newspaper adverts for 20TEN.
I'm not selling these. If you contact me to ask where you can buy them, expect your PM to be redirected to a mod.
I'm just pointing out what's out there. © Bart Van Hemelen

Yes.
This material is already out there. This is 'remastered' and 'extended', but I've seen many bootleg companies use the same tactic. They are as much a business as any record company. If they had newer shit to release they'd release it. They don't so many boot companies are re-visiting older material and touching it up or using more than one source for fuller versions. Even the (arguably)best Prince boot 'Chocolate Box'(sound quality etc) is comprised of well-known recordings.
Usually I like your posts. I am beginning endlessly to fall out of love with you.

'20TEN' stiffens my purple yoda, but each to his own. Of course, there is a demand; of course, I would buy it. Would I like Prince to release a set like this? Yes. Officially. I just don't want to give money to thieves who release and re-release another mans work for maximum profit. Downloading for free may not bother my conscience though. I think I may be able to cope with that. And before anyone says it, I know that Prince doesn't release the music you might want, so there is no other way to get it, but this is still promo for an unofficial product. I wouldn't even have an issue if it were not so obviously an advert.
If Prince released this, myriads of knobs on here would say it's 'too expensive' and he's 'stuck in the past.' He could release 'Roadhouse Garden' and the bastards would still find something to moan about.

Don't hate. You acted as thought Bart had some covert plan to put these things out and make money or something. Seemed a bit nonsensical to me.
