Oh and nobody got anything for free...The Mirror put it's price up on Saturday... No doubt to cover Princes fees.

The Daily Mirror is 45p on weekdays and 65p on saturdays even before the prince giveaway cause you get a TV mag with it on saturdays.

Prince says what he wants - whenever he wants. He's a geniius. The point is: The album is fucking boss.

Prince I will always miss and love U.

Going from the Sunday Mail to the Mirror is a complete about turn. Politically they're poles apart.

I don't think he cares whilst he's sat in his bathtub full off cash.

That seems to be an issue for the public mostly. It was simply a business deal not a lifetime contract.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

As I've said before...perhaps we should remind Prince if his quote when he wants to top up his piggybank by touring again...let's see him sell tickets without the Internet. What he actually meant was, he found another way to line his pocket. Shame is, back in 1995 he embraced the Internet and said he aimed to give sway free music without the need for record labels...never did though did he?! It's bullshit that it's a stand against piracy...all he's really saying is "I've already been paid so it's no skin off my nose"... It has to be, as long as he is still releasing hardcopies they'll be distributed. Ironically digital downloads with keys will be the most anti- piracy. The irony - search Internet forums and you'll get the opinion Prince is now a shadow of his talent...therefore the Internet says Prince is over smile [Edited 7/11/10 12:21pm]

Forgive me, but I think you're doing exactly what Forbes is stating in this article...you didn't look hard at what he said. Did you really think that Prince meant that he was going to work for free, or that the music would be "free" for him to distribute as he pleases?? The fact that he embraced the internet to do so way back whehn proves that he was experimenting with different mediums for distribution.

Why should he get grief for "lining his pockets?"

He made music and wanted to release it. He found a method in which to do so. That's professional. If the buyer has issues with the paper the CD was being sold in then "don't buy it". There's no gun to anyone's head and Prince isn't asking anyone to compromise their beliefs. The choice is always the publics at the end of the day.

oh dont worry. i love sell-outs. i love when they spend their WHOLE CAREER spouting PRINCIPLES about LIFE then turn around and reneg on ALL of them in one fell swoop, just so they can get paid. i love it because it reveals the intentions they had all along, and how none of what they EVER sang about, meant anything to them at all, well, at least not as much as the MONEY. and thats ok with me.

Who's bitching?...I thought people were just saying how absurd his 'predictions' were. He wasn't, as far as I can tell, saying the Internet was old news just for him, he was saying it was obsolete like MTV. If he had said that it was a no longer viable means of distribution for because he had lost the trust of fans by not harnessing it correctly and causing not 1 but 2 train wreck with his pay-up-front schemes then that would make more sense.

I guess I'm just ashamed I had to buy the mirror after all the damage that paper tried to do a few years back to shift copies. I don't know - he picks some odd deals...The Mail which is anti everything or a rag like the mirror which printed seriously damaging fake photos of 'troops' torturing 'iraqis'

This seems to be an issue for the public mostly. Prince simply made a business deal to distribute his music. He's not responsible for everything the paper has done or will do in the future.

Prince sticks his beak into to everything and forces his opinion whether they are welcome or not...to think that the Mirror got under his radar is wishful thinking...if it was anybody else he say they'd sold their soul to the devil...he's got into bed with the very thing he'd usually despise/shouts against for a few bucks...prostitution

He's not the owner, the editor or the reporter. You are directly responsible for buying if you choose to do so.

It didn't stop you from buying a copy. Did it? Only you can be responsible for what you do at the end of the day Prince isn't pulling your strings.

Seriously? Prince "sold out" long ago and it remains his biggest, most blatantly commercial, and obvious grab for money ever. Or did you forget?

a certain somebody might be both of the things you mention, and there's every chance he needs all the hugs he can get.

if his own words, written in the One Song introduction, are not the reflection he wants to see right now

then i guess the truth will bless him some other fine day, unless he's too busy counting money of course heart

True - but I'm Not the one who has spent years voicing my disdain for this type of company, I've no printed a 'holier than thou' lifestyle or chastised those without clean lifestyles - Prince has jumped into bed with for a quick buck with the very John than he has been ranting about for years. I would have bought whatever he sold it to as I had no choice if I wanted the album...some may well say why not strike up a worthwhile deal that fits the image he all wants us to see...Big Issue?

It's infinitely debatable. In this case I meant that Prince seems to be able to play the Music Industry game better than anyone who's ever played.

And again, that's why I'm still here. Good music or bad, it never gets dull.

Yeah cause this faceless base driving the internet has 10+ successful/lucrative years under their belt of marketing?

I think I know whose opinion I value more.
