Prince & Sheila - Still Together in 2010

I will have to say after viewing the footage from Berlin of Prince and Sheila singing A Love Bizarre and their playfullness on the drum solo I really feel that these two are true soul mates. I think Sheila really puts Prince to the test artisticly when they play together and they have such a strong chemistry onstage. It is really cool to see these two still together after all of these years. Prince if your looking for a wife , I believe she is right in front of you onstage. Oh Sheila !

Yeah their relationship has hit rock bottom before. However it's good to see that after all of these years, she's still by his side working professionally with him. There must of been a whole lot of crying, screaming, and wheezing going on - on Prince's end to get her to come back and work with him.

Out of all of the women that he's worked with...Sheila has been the most loyal. I think she loves him. I don't know in what capacity...but I think they're in each other's lives to stay. Not too many people that I like almost everything about...but Sheila is good peeps it seems.

Only Sheila could get away with mocking Prince by dressing up as him, jacking his "purple sound", and dissing his football team, AND PUTTING IT ON VIDEO for all to see. Both look very good for thier age.

[Edited 7/11/10 4:03am]

Although I'm your biggest fan...I'm also your biggest critic. Can you deal with that?

Sheila is too independent and intelligent for Prince, Prince would not be able to control her like he does his other girlfriends/wives. Sheila would be too much of a challenge for him, she has her own mind.

It would not work.

I mentioned this in another thread! I saw a lot of love and I think its wonderful to know one another that long and still be as good friends as they are. She must really have put up with a lot of shit to still be around. lol

There is the best chemistry ever between Prince and Sheila E. on so many levels: Friendship: She never dissed him, Music: Their talent combined can make a crowd explode, Their personalities: Sheila E is beautiful, independent, powerful, talented and Prince is charismatic, sexy, inspiring, idolized. What else could we expect?

I also think all other girlfriends only served as accessories for him like a piece of clothes fits him well. Their lack of brain bore him too fast. Sheila E and Wendy too are more than that.

The whole idea of Sheila and Prince being married is a moot point. It's weird that folks still bring it up. Sheila has said before that anything sexual or "relationship"y between her and Prince would never happen now. She's called him her 'brother', and Prince has called her his 'sister'. They have a friendship that doesn't need sex, or marriage, etc mucking it up. They've been through a lot together, and yes they were sexual at one point, but sometimes folks grow beyond that and have a stronger friendship than love relationship. I love that they're still playing music together. For a long time Prince rarely worked w/ people from his past (besides the random W&L peppering here and there). yet now he seems to be more open to folks from him past coming around again. It leads me to believe (or hope) that Prince has softened a bit with his "shutting off the past" ways that he used to do. Doesn't mean he still doesn't have that in him, because we've seen evidence supporting that. But for him and Sheila to work past differences they had in the very late 80's and early 90's is nice. Reminds us that they're both just people, like any of the rest of us.

I agree. I guess I couldnt see them being romantic together. Sheila is too wild for Prince and too independent, but its nice Prince has a real friend in Sheila. I can see why he would still keep her around, she seems like a fun person and great friend to have around.

Actually Jill Jones was very 'free spirited' with Prince, she was around from Dirty Mind years - Graffiti Bridge. I don't know what happened between them after that

Vanity was not passive when it came to Prince, with her 'what was good 4 the gander was good 4 the goose' if Prince wanted to have an affair so did she ... with the director of PR, she vocalized her objections to Prince about V6 and his affairs.

And Susan Moonsie was also very headstrong about her individuality, a reason Prince wrote songs about her.

Susannah Melvoin probably provided the most creative stimulation 4 Prince out of all of them. She definately didn't lack in the dept of brain. And definately was not a bore. She challenged his athstetics of art and culture as well as music.

None of us really know how "independent" or "wild" anyone is at this point, to be with anyone else. We think we know, but we don't. As I stated earlier, it's a moot point, and the "wild" or "independent" stuff doesn't even apply.

But where are they now? smile If such chemistry existed, how come Vanity, Jill, Susan, Susannah haven't been in the picture such as Sheila E and Wendy? biggrin

THEY have chosen to move on. The call wasn't totally Prince's choice. Vanity had a hard drug problem, and was said to be lazy when it came to work (ie strung out?), which is why she left. Vanity found other means to live by, oddly similar to what Prince is now living. Weird how people are so much alike, then differ so much, then come back full circle to be so similar again in their own separate lives.

I would almost think Jill is still friendly with Prince if it came down to a chance meeting between the two. But Jill was very independent and balls-to-the-wall back then, and still is now. It's a strength, not a character flaw with her. She didn't talk shit, and she didn't take shit.

Susan was the one who put her foot down and didn't stand for Prince's ongoing multiple affairs.

Susannah, I think, was too cultured for Prince back then. He was very street in a lot of ways, and she was very NOT street. Doesn't mean she didn't have common sense of course, but she came from a very different background with music, culture, kinship, and companionship that Prince was used to being part of. Susannah knew and respected friendship and honesty and commitment; Prince did not. Susannah obviously had the most influence on Prince's work because I would throw money at the assumption that he wrote more songs about her than any other girlfriend until Mayte.

Chemistry doesn't always last forever - it's just that when it does exist, it's strong, and unwavering and highly productive, whether in love, music, or whatever field is exists.

It would be great if they did a tour together.

Sheila and her band could open and then Prince would do this set, and she could join him onstage later for various songs. Would be a great way for her to do a national tour again. It's clear that every show that she joins (e.g. Musicology, Alma awards, Berlin, etc.) take it to another level.
