Prince more popular in U.S. or Europe?

20TEN got me thinking how unusual it is for the U.S. not to get the latest newest Prince platter.

Overall, do you think he is more popular in the U.S. or Europe?

The US do not have 20TEN YET, the same thing happened with Planet Earth, so not that unusual.

It has not been confirmed that the US is NOT getting 20TEN.

As far as popularity is concerned, I think when Prince's star was diminishing in the US after the peak of Purple Rain, his popularity began to increase in Europe, and in other countries of the world.

But whether he is more popular now in Europe than the US is i think very difficult to gauge. You could compare music sales, but i don't think that this alone could give us a true idea regarding his overall popularity in any given continent, it's not as simple as that.

Good question though.

Totally correct. The dates are almost the same for 20Ten as they were for Planet Earth, too.

The US will get the album. $10 says WB is distributing it. If not, he'll still drop it somewhere, somehow. It'd be stupid of him to give away an album for free in the UK, and miss the money waiting to buy it in the US.

FunkinDaTrunk

It's easier for Prince to stage a profitable cover mount distribution method in Europe.

I am from the UK. And i managed to find a copy of Lotusflower 3-4 days after it's release in the US.

I not sure about Ireland, but HMV and Fopp stores in Scotland and England had Lotus in stock.

Ah yeah but at ridiculas prices! When illegal downloads are so easy now there should be no reason to charge those crazy prices anymore.

I paid £30 for Emancipation when it came out but got it again in Heatons a few years back for €2.

I also paid about £50 for the Crystal Ball set, it was the only one I ever saw in a retail store.

Lotus was £18 in HMV, which is steep, but bearing in mind it was 3 discs. I have seen it since then (this year) in HMV for £32, why the massive hike i have no idea.

I can't remember how much i paid for Emancipation upon release, but it was a lot.

And Crystal Ball was £50 in Scotland too.
