If I hear an apology out of Prince's mouth, I will actually buy this nod WAY better than Lotus. As much as I love colonized mind and wall of berlin, they don't save that mess. Totally dig this album but for me it kind of falls off with the ballads. I love the concept of the Black album in that there was on ballad right in the middle. It was totally out of place but the album didn't get watered down because it was ballad heavy. The ballads aren't total classics and I think Prince should have kept the album more upbeate.

I dig this album tho nod

I love 20Ten because it answers the question of what Janelle Monae really meant when she said "we were on the floor" after listening to it.

This album is on high rotation in my house, and it has been years since a Prince album did that. I love it!

His voice is pretty strong, finally i get the Prince vibe again.

20Ten is a good album and i love track 1-7 a lot, those are all very good songs.

it's the last 3 tracks that i don't care for too much. they're not horrible but just

feel less in comparison to the rest of the material.

I've been thinking about mixing some of the better Mplsound tracks into it and

see what it sounds like. perhaps:

01. Compassion

02. Beginning Endlessly

03. Future Soul Song

04. Sticky Like Glue

05. Dance 4 Me

06. Act Of God

07. Lavaux

08. Here

09. Old Skool Company

10. No More Candy 4 U

I might even make a copy of that tracklist myself.

That's just one great song after another.

God willing, it will come out here in America.

I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

It' better than I thought it would be. There's several great songs on 20TEN. He's sending out messages and sharing his thoughts but he's not preaching. It's pure Prince.

You really need to stop. This is one of Prince's best albums in a while. You must be on that Sherm Stick!

I'm surprised you say that when you rate Batman as one of your favourite records. Seriously you should give this a few more spins, songs like beginning endlessly really do get better with each listen. I actually see this as Batman 2. No live drums and wild keyboard!

Well I downloaded it 1 day before the Uk release date (thank you dead internet), and purchased the cd off ebay, which came today (thank you again dead internet).

I am very happy to say that for the first time since 3121 came out, I put on the album and thought.. holy crap.. this is good! Then a couple minutes in I started realizing..wait this is everything that was wrong about MPLSsound made better!

It's like he finally stopped laboring over the song so much that he made them a mess, and just wrote some simple tunes. The lyrics are good but they aren't beat-me-over-the-head-with-purple-dogma preachy. but they also arent empty like "Chocolate Box" or worst example something like "Freaks on This Side".

He's still got a long way to go before I'll ever be able to idolize the guy again. He's done some things and said some things that are just not cool towards many of the people who have loved and supported him and with no reprocussion for them. So loving this album is bittersweet.

But in any case, yeaay... nice to have a Cd that reminds me of the stuff I still love about his work. And he made a coherent album full of actual songs this time. None of it's really filler. the last album(s) felt like mostly filler. Future Soul Song is gorgeous. Compassion.. yeah he started the cd off with a bang. I hate the cds starting slow with jazz/fusion stuff, or with a half-ass heal-the-world song like Planet earth. You bored me before you got me to the jams. I wanna get crazy and then get serious and somber on the way down. Act Of God might be my favorite message song since Money Don't Matter 2Nite. and the bonus track Lay Down... futuric sounding. I didn't think he remembered how to sound futuristic anymore. and track 77! That's the key... I don't remember 7 references on Planet earth or Lotusflower. maybe he jinxed those lol

Anyways.. props to the purple one. I hope this is the start of a new era for him.

Well, Mars, thanks for holding all of our hands! And thanks for separating the threads like you did! As most of Prince's albums I've listened to since the early 80s--there are some I like immediately and some on 20Ten which have to grow on me. I just received my UK copy in the mail and I am listening for the first time. The stand out songs for me are..Future Love Song, Sticky Like Glue, Act of God, and Lavaux. Those are the only songs which are solid and seem to flow together. The one song I really dislike is "Everybody Loves ME"--like a passive/aggressive nursery rhyme song! I would have respected it more if he did the whole thing in a minor key... He should have ended the LP with Act of God and left Everybody Loves Me totally out. End it in a strong way, like he ended Lotusflower with "Dreamer" before the outro... cool

I love 20Ten simply because I'm always excited about a new Prince album. Undoubtedly in a few weeks I will decide that I don't like the bulk of it. I'm already skipping a few tracks - Walk In Sand is far too beige for a man of his peverse talents, and Sea of Everything is completely forgettable. In true Prince style, my favourite track is ironically found at the very end after several minutes of silence.

A new album from Prince always renews my interest in his music. For example, at this moment I'm listening to The Gold Experience again as it is my all-time favourite. As much as every new Prince CD gives me a buzz, NOTHING matches the buzz I get from TGE every time I listen to it.

I wish he would make more albums like The Gold Experience. But for now I'd settle for anything new, and at 65p per copy at least 20Ten is value for money!

I did feel dirty buying three copies of The Daily Mirror, however. I had to have a full body scrub and exorcism afterwards.

I like it when you dance for me.

I agree that sea of everything is worth about nothing. You seem to get one of these now with each Prince album. I didn't like walking in the sand at first, but then my 5 year old daughter was listening to it, and smiled at me and said that song was about she and I walking on the beach. Now I love it.

We are all so full of doody here

It's funky and sounds fresh, as opposed to the retro and recycled stuff that precedes it. I really wish Prince would take more risks and experiment more often these days. If he loses his musical creativity it's as if he loses his Princely essence.

I may be wrong but I feel as it Prince is answering his fans that miss the sound of the "old Prince". the majority of songs remind me of another song.

I think you're totally right. He's been making well-meaning but misguided attempts to please the old fans ever since "we" asked for an acoustic album and he gave us The Truth. It wasn't bad, and neither were some of his other "crowd-pleasers" (such as News and Xpectation when folks were demanding an instrumental jazz album) but he simply isn't - and shouldn't be - a human jukebox. When it comes down to it, he's always at his best when he does his own unique thing without a care in the world what people think.

I agree 100%. Because of him doing his own thing, we got Around The World In A Day after Purple Rain.
