the more i listen the more i like, it feels so simple, like prince aint trying or over producing his music, it has its weak moments, of course its not gonna be as wild as Purp Rain or 1999, but Prince has evolved and this still has the prince feel to it. I was disapointed with MPLSound, but this album, i'm pretty satisfied with.
Its like 1999 made by a 52 yr in 2010(if that makes sense), its a mature modern version. Everybody loves me has grown on me, i didnt like that song its quirky ways are rubbing me right.
Fav so far has to be Future Soul Song, the 1st 3 tracks and bonus track......the more i listen the more i likes, i think its better then 3121.

I must've played this CD around 5 times yesterday and once more today and the more I play it, the more I love it. I love how much fun this CD is. This is the first CD in a while where I want to get up and dance hard to so many songs on here. Even songs that I don't love, like Sea of Everything and Everybody Loves Me, I like them. I can play this the whole way through and enjoy it immensly. I want others to hear this CD because I know it's that damn good. In fact, my uncle just came in from Florida yesterday and he's a Prince fan, so I had him hear the CD in my car this morning. He thought it was great and he's looking forward to buying it as I am too. Prince did what he was supposed to do and that's entertain me. I couldn't ask for more.
Well done Prince!!!!!! I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

It was like 4 GBD which translates to around 6 US dollars I think. I also believe that included postage. But I have no idea how soon I will see it show up. We are all so full of here

I think this CD is a strong one, and i dont get the MPLsound comparisons because that was possibly his weakest in a long time, nothing even came close to being a standout on that record, here the first track "Compassion" is better than the whole MPLsound cd added up. Tracks like "Beginning Endlessly" and "Future Soul Song" and "Walk in the Sand" are very good songs from someone that doesnt have to record anymore. Lets face it though, PRINCE will never record the album YOU WANT, so take what he gives you, he aint gonna give you the feeling U HAD when you were a kid, mainly because you aint a kid anymore, and hes far from it. It has to grow on me but after a few listens i can say i really like it. Not a major Prince album & nothing new at all, but a nice collection of funky tracks. If anyone else had done this album i'd have said it's a wonderful homage to the Mpls Sound so why would i complain just because Prince did it?
I really enjoy listening to it so far A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

Prince has done so much musically that he could never possible please everybody in one project. I was there when lovers of 1999 thought he sold out and lost it on Purple Rain. I'm glad he's grown and forced me to grow with him as a lover of his music. With all that said, ever one is trying to do what Prince has already done so why not do 20Ten.
I feel myself wanting to type 20 paragraphs so I'll just say this; I dig 20Ten and I pick up on the fun Prince had making it. It may sound like the 80's but it's what so many are trying to do now anyway. I predict the American release may be a little different...no source, just a feeling. Who ever said Prince has lost it - has lost it. The Kid's still got game!

20Ten is a good album and i love track 1-7 a lot, those are all very good songs. it's the last 3 tracks that i don't care for too much. they're not horrible but just feel less in comparison to the rest of the material.
I've been thinking about mixing some of the better Mplsound tracks into it and see what it sounds like. perhaps:
01. Compassion 02. Beginning Endlessly 03. Future Soul Song 04. Sticky Like Glue 05. Dance 4 Me 06. Act Of God 07. Lavaux 08. Here 09. Walk In Sand 10. Old Skool Company

I'm really impressed with the album after my initial disappointment. Agree with some comments in that a lot of the songs sounded the same but give it 3 or 4 listens and they really start to stand out from each other.
Its been a while since i've had a riff stuck in my head from Prince for a while but been humming the riff from 'Beginning Endlessly' all day. Really dig 'Act of God' as well. I'm certain I'll be listening to this album for a while and not disregarded like some others. I can kinda tell by the quality of the tracks.
A very good album. | |

Love it!! Except of "Everybody loves me" .. Don't really know why, I just get tired of it halfway and change song :] .. But I reaaally love Future Soul Song, Sticky Like Glue, Lavaux and Walk In Sand!! Oh, you play guitar?
Excuse me, while I take my clothes off..

i love 20ten but after a lot of listening to this album I really miss the guitar solos. I love the rhytm guitar but I miss that a song really makes you think nobody can play like Prince"
This is why I thought yesterday 3121 is a better album than 20ten (I know a lot of people saying 3121 is absolutely weak) but there he used a lot of futuristic sounds AND played guitar solos like in fury.
My favorite tracks on 20ten so far are sticky like glue, beginning endlessly and future soul song! Right now I don't care a lot about the other tracks but I know I will change my mind like I always do when it comes to Prince music.

Huh? "So strange that no one stayed at the end of the Parade..." - Wendy & Lisa's "Song About" on their 1987 self-titled album.

It's another forgettable album. Songs sound the same. "Endlessly Beginning" sounds like a continuation of "Compassion".
Again, this album has no hooks or memorable melodies.
I will say that I like the fact that he attempted to keep the songs simple. And the "ok" songs: (Compassion, Sticky Like Glue, Lavaux, Act Of God, Everybody Loves Me, Laydown) sound like they are from the Dirty Mind / Controvery era. They just are not anywhere near as good.
Another thing: Once I stop listening to the album, I cannot remember how any of the songs go. They're just not that memorable.

Replace Walk In Sand (yawn) with Better With Time, stick on No More Candy 4 U and I'd say you have a perfect Prince album on your hands.

I love 20TEN because it´s a nice work of funk music. It´s the mature version of MPLSound which wasnt a bad album imo. It doesn´t have any outstanding, extraordinary and unique songs but it is a very solid work.
Highlights in this order:
Beginning Endlessly (grows and grows on me ), Future Soul Song (one of the best ballads Prince wrote for a long time, great vocal performance) Laydown (would like to hear more music like that from Prince) Sticky Like Glue Lavaux
Everybody Loves Me
I´d give it a 8/10 after listening to it 4 times.

there, that's better. altho i haven't put "better with time" on there since i feel that is also quite a meandering track. perhaps "u're gonna c me" would fit in there? not sure.
but as is, it flows very well. last night i listened to the sequence with "walk in sand" and whilst the other tracks fit perfectly in the flow of this alternate version, "walk in sand" is pretty much completely out of place. plus it's end segues into "sea of everything" so it doesn't go well without that track.
aaaaaaanyway. i'm gonna listen to it like this tonight
