Its MPLSound Pt II imho the same "old school" sounds and samples sans a soul or the emotional urgency and intensity of his work of the era hes attempting to mimic. Theres the odd cool grove or little piece here and there that hints at his former glory but no song i can listen to in its entirity without wondering "wtf is that doing in there?". Lyrically its a rambling mess overall and constantly staggers between the akward and the embarassing.

Oh, how I agree with this. The lyrics on this disc are terrible with a capital T.

I feel the same way, but I know a few people that think it's better than some of the previous/recent projects. shrug

I don't hate nor love it. It's an OK album. Reminds me of old school Prince (Dirty Mind and late 70's) a bit, without the sexualized vocals and lyrics. I enjoy tracks 1-5 (especially the first two) and 77. 6-7 are just okay, hate that they drag on and aren't catchy. I can do without 8-9. Laydown is the best song on the album. Wish the whole album had this vibe. Funky and upbeat!

BUT I hate that the album lacks energy and a majority of the songs on the album are good but forgettable. They're not catchy at all. I don't find myself humming the songs except for maybe, 'Sticky like Glue'. Bleh. Idk. The album in general sounds dated. Maybe, I should give it a couple more listens....

Prince hasn't had an album worthy of being a classic for 20 years. I don't know what the surprise is?

All his albums since Lovesexy have sucked big time. Maybe a coupe singles here and there have been surprising and Batman was a return to form for a split second and then his career spun way out of control. He lost his oomph. It' s most likely his religion mixed in with his addiction to his ego.

I've lost respect for the man. He plays a mean guitar and can bring the house down from time to time live, but his recordings SUCK. I'm just sayin.

What we really need is a proper live recording without his additional tinkerings. Leave it live and real Mr. Nelson

I got it for free with the newspaper and I knew it would be average-poor. No it's not awful but its by his old standard, its just plain bad and I don't think I can bother to play any of it again (not yet anyway).

"20 ten" sounded retro yet sounds more dated then "1999". Whats that about?

Iam a huge fan of his earlier stuff but since "Rainbow Children", he has become spent creatively. "Planet Earth" was awful and though I have not listeedn to his other albums last decade past "Rainbow Children", I just know how average and formulaic they will be.

Alot of creative artists just get to a certain age and just peak creatively and thats it! I wish Prince would work with others and not produce himself anymore. Just try it! That and take a long break! Go score some movies or something lol Then maybe I might get a good record from him again. Does he owe me a good record? Of course not lol . He is 50 plus so I forgive him for this freebie anyway LOL. He had a fantastic run of albums and songs and I still think that one day, he might do something worthwhile. Until then?...

Another heaping pile of shit. I don't even know where to start with this one. Poor songwriting, lame attempt at bringing back old sounds, cheesy, corny, preachy, what else can I say?

It's an awful, disgusting album. And like the rest, it'll be ignored by everyone except the kiss-ass fams who can't be critical of anything he does.

You are so right, it sucks big time. I liked PE, and 3121, this is some real SHIT! He should have given it away in the bathrooms at airports, because it should be flushed!

I just bought some used Prince cds online to replace my worn out cds. It was a bulk order for about $75 that included Purple Rain, 1999, and Diamonds And Pearls had enough scratches on the back to make me think they had been run over by a Mack Truck, and then been placed in Tony M's house for a few hours to suck up the talent out of the damb cds.

When I looked at Chaos And Disorder, Lotus Flow3r, Planet Earth, and 3121....It looked like they had been pressed up ten minutes ago. Not a scratch, not even a microscopic scuff the size of half of a hair.

Why No Scuffs? The majority of those that hate Chaos have hardly listened to it. Perhaps they "Heard" it...but no listens. I used to look at the used Cds in shops for U2. The Joshua Tree, Achtung Baby, and War looked like the cds were scratched up by a maniac. Zooropa and Pop looked Brand New. Funny...wonder why?
