Also y'all do know that people's thoughts about songs can change. I can very well dig this next time I hear it lmao you never know so don't just go on this attack. Y'all DID say thoughts can change, did you not?

Oddly though I heard "No More Candy 4 U" (which is '80s-esque too), like I mention, this is the happier version lmao

Actually, ah, this song is kind of innovative
Here I go again reversing my shit. This is a pretty killer cut. Beyond the cuteness, it is a really well done pop song. Listen to the music, really listen to it. The bass, the piano, the synths. This is a good cut, admit it! All you others say Hell Yea!!

I reversed a bit on a lot of the songs.
And...I'm reversing on this one. Now I'm still mad about that "shake it" chant but other than that, I am liking this.
It IS vintage Prince anyways and we all love vintage Prince.
DON'T WE?! | |

I love Right The Wrong so I have to love this. All you others say Hell Yea!!

You know something? It's possible that this could actually be an outtake from the I'll Do Anything soundtrack. It has the cuteness of songs like Be My Mirror or Wow. This could be an outtake he never actually put on the original tape. Anything's possible. All you others say Hell Yea!!
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Technically every one of these songs could very well be outtakes. Hell he could've written/initially record this one during the "Dirty Mind"/"Controversy" era. It wouldn't be far off knowing how Prince got a trillion songs he ain't put out yet.

Good call. I was thinking that it could also be an outtake from that children's album he was working on either during or after Emancipation.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
The more I hear it, I think it's an outtake for a song he was gonna use for the "Happy Feet" soundtrack. It honestly sounds like it could've been lyrical wise.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
That could be, too. I didn't see the movie though.

This song goes on and on and on.
If you're going to write something irrereverant and silly and tounge-in-cheek, have the decency to know when enoughs enough.

Whatever you can do to get the children into Prince then by all means do it because Prince is for the children too! If this is the track to get the children to know who Prince is, then by all means they need to be jamming this in all the Kindergartens of the world damnit! Man, I was 4 when I found out who Prince was so this touches me where I live. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I never thought of it like that! I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

"All you need is love, all you need is love, all you need is love, love, love is all you need, love is all you need, love is all you need, love is all you need, love is all you need, love is all you need, love is all you need, love is all you need, she loves you yeah, yeah, yeah, (love is all you need continues to repeat in background)".
And they were arguably the best band in modern history. I Stefani Germanotta.

I kinda like it, it's just a fun sounding song, nothing more.
It has a sound like it could have been a b-side from Dirty Mind or Controversy. Facebook, I haz it - https://www.facebook.com/Nikster1969

I think the song is sort of a response to the negativity towards him. He knows that he's actually not loved by everybody. Nevertheless he wants to convince himself of the opposite in an autosuggestive positive way to handle this situation. That's why I think that even the so-called naive lyrics have a certain charme and quality.
To me it's not a great song (actually there aren't any really great songs on 20ten), but it's one of the best on this album.

Erm...
Forgive me if this has already been posted, but does anyone notice that this song (in addition to several other songs) samples from his older material?
This thing seems like he built a song on top of underlying tracks from the song "Dirty Mind"...You can hear it more clearly at the 3:42 minute marker (and continuing till the end of the song). It's not as blatant as Compassion, which samples "Lets Pretend We're married", but it *is* audible.

He should sing this in a cockney accent. This is like a fun version of how he was influenced by English stuff in whn he toured with Dirty Mind.
It's certainly a brave choice

this song is complete gash. i can't see it ever growing on me...it's like jughead - just not right.

I love this song. It kind of sound like its from between Controversy and 1999. I think most will hate it because it sounds silly and it'll have you singing along while it sticks in your head.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
i'd have to say that after listening to the album quite a few times this song has grown on me alot, i just can't stop singing it, i know it's silly but he has done these songs from time to time. Love it!

Fantasticjoy is probably a newbie but she or he gets it well. The dissers are actually dissing Prince's peak period of the 80s. This song could be an outtake of Controversy, 1999. It is a clean version of something like Jack U Off. It makes me smile and should make u. Can't u find it in yo heart?
I did an experiment. I listened to Nirvana's song Drain You, which is a classic from Nevermind, a real ass kicker, then I listened to this song again. It aint as good as Drain You but it is goooood.
It rox peeps All you others say Hell Yea!!

Plug your buds in, do some stuff around the house, and see if this song doesnt make you just feel good. That is indeed the gift of Prince in his music, to make you feel.
I do believe it is those songs, and he has had a lot of them, where he tries to shock more than create a feeling, that he fails me as an artist. We are all so full of here

I've seen this opinion from a few folks, and I don't think he sampled anything from the past on this album. It's a LinnDrumm or LM-1 being used, and if he happened 2 create some beats that sound like earlier ones, it was likely intentional...
I hear how U hear "Dirty Mind" in "Everybody Loves Me", but I just don't think anything was sampled.
Same goes 4 "Compassion"... The beat is reminescent, but not sampled.
