I seriously......love this one!

It is Prince totally testing out a different style, and I do like it. At first listed I was like...what tha?

Then, I listened again....the piano riff made me feel good...

Then, I listened again, and the more I listen the more it reminds me of something that should have been sung in Grease the musical.

I am digging this one, straight up!

I played it to the kid's in the backyard 2day... they totally loved it.

The kids are 4-7 years of age.

I'm sure they will love "Hot Summer" aswell.

No over analyzing here, or trying to figure out what it sounds like from the past. Just an awesome tune.

Why do these silly tracks?

Sometimes they work... America, Free, but other times you get Graffitti Bridge, etc...

Embarrasing song! Sounds like Mika... is that his name?

I totally agree. It's not anything new for him. It's just his absolute worst attempt at this kind of song, ever!! lol

nod Exactly. lol

Whereas "Compassion" actually is enjoyable this one is nauseating. This is the only one to skip now that I've played this. It just does NOT hold up as one of his best to me.

I kinda like this song...it's definitely not the worst on the album. It's kind of a fun little uptempo number...don't take it too seriously.

I love it as well..The worst one on the album for me is probably Compassion..it's still a good song and I love the lyrics, but the music seems a little off to me.

I must say, I woke up to Everybody Loves Me in my head. I was even singing along to what I remembered of the song. I'm starting to think, "is it really that bad?" I don't know now. It's been a while since I've not known what to make of a Prince song. I'm all over the place with it. I'll just be in the middle for now. lol

It really is an odd little thing and there's a lot going on, musically, when you listen on headphones. It's just the delivery is so completely over the top here.

I finally figured out what it reminds me of from the past, at least the start of it. It is the outtake "Turn it Up"...listen to the first 10 or 15 seconds of this one and Turn It Up and you'll see what i mean.

I figured out what is weird about this song (at least to me).

His other quirky attempts like this: Jack U Off, Horny Toad, etc... had this cheesy uptempo, childish beat but the lyrics were downright NASTY!!! So it made the whole thing interesting.

The lyric aspect is missing. Imagine if they lyrics were something crazy, I think it would change the whole song.

It's my least fave because of this.

Returning to the funk/rock vibe of the opener Everybody Loves Me has a driving beat that propels you along but sadly as soon as the lyrics and sing-song melody hit it just makes me feel like all the craft of his songwriting took the day off. With a Dirty Mind era arrangement it grabs me musically but at the same time loses me with the chorus that becomes seemingly more annoying with each passing.

I said the same thing about the headphones!!!! The first time I listened, I was listening with laptop computer speakers. When I listened with headphones, it was a completely different experience. I love this song. I don't know what's wrong with people- this song has what most people call ironic farce humor written all over it, but also shows that he can have fun and wants others to have fun, and I'm thankful that he is back in touch with new wave.

I heart Stefani Germanotta.

Man, I keep listening to it over and over and I can't stop smiling when I'm listening to it. When you let yourself actually feel the song, it takes over- sort of like "All You Need Is Love" or something. Someone previously made the reference to Beatles lyrics, but I agree- the Beatles did write very simple, basic lyrics most of the time and sang them with a passion that some other people would be like "what the hell?". This is one of those songs. It's so basic and true that at first it seems very cheesy, but it will get you if you let it in.

I heart Stefani Germanotta.

I hated it to begin with.

But it's grown on me and I now quite like it, love it towards the end with the big drums.

I'm not really familar with the Scissor Sisiters but for some reason It reminds me of them.

and altho he does, he takes it a step further and goes as far back as 1981 and even

1979 with some of these songs.

yeah, the lyrics used to lift these type of songs way above average because of their

nasty vibe. the music is still slamming but the lyrics still make it too weird haha.

Prince takes LSD, listens to 'Ronnie Talks to Russia' and tries to make his best friends children laugh and dance.

My son loves it. He's singing it today. Dancing all over the place.

That Prince has the purple balls to put this as the 'final' track (disregarding 'Laydown' makes me happy in itself.

Ok I've commented on this track previously and a part of me wants to take a peak at what a live rendition could do to sway my opinion.

I tend to agree that this track conjurs up images of preschool sountrack album. I wanna like this because if I truly could then this would be faultless album for me. As it is this to me is the weakest track on the album. If this was the hidden track I'd perhaps 'get it' but as a closer I don't. neutral

No, it is new wave music from about 1982. How old are some of you? I do not see how it is different than Delirous or Let's Pretend Were Married.

Definately in the tradition of 'Jack U Off', musically I mean, and that's not bad. We all Love Controversy.

Prince can't win. People bitch if he goes old school, people bitch if he gives us something new, people bitch if he gives us something weird, something dirty, something clean. Let's face.

People just bitch.

We are all so full of doody here

It can sound like a lot of different things and I think I said earlier that this song and "Compassion" sound like the songs you're talking about so it ain't age. lol Just in ways I'm hearing the song.
