My favorite Prince song in YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Prince may be the purple Yoda, but Wendy & Lisa and Eric Leeds also sit on the Jedi Council.

The music's some of the best he's done since... F.U.N.K or whatever it's called.

SLAMMING production.

But the lyrics... damn. Prince is turning into fucking Glenn Beck.

it almost has a gospel church feel to it. I can easily see Mavis Staple singing this one.

after repeated listenings it still reminds me of "people without", something about the groove

in the beat. the song is nothing like "people without", i know, but it does remind me of it for

some reason. 2nd song it keeps reminding me of is a sped up version of beck's "scarecrow"

could see Mavis singing this, like gold31 said.

like the lyrics. they seem to have a wider scope this time. usually his social awareness lyrics

suffer from a goggled up prince world vision. also like the line about people being free to be

who and what they want to be. sounds like prince's 80s and early 90s mentality.

like a few others on this album it just ends to abruptly. he could have stretched this one out

for another minute or 2 by just slapping some chicken grease and a cool weird solo over it.

as is, it just rushes by and is over far too quickly.

love it tho biggrin

Loving this one.

Does anyone hear that little sound about 9 seconds in? I hear a little sound in there that makes me think of Databank. It's the little twidly synth sound. Not sure how to describe it biggrin . Also hear it around the 2:33 mark.

RIP sad

I'm feeling it!

How can a fan of Prince music not like this song. Vintage... the beat and guitar. Even the vocal... sort of has that VaVa Voom feel. Lyrically its very staple singers... I kept waiting for Mavis to pop-up any minute

The more I listen to the lyrics, the less I dig it.

But I guess I'm not a multi millionaire who lives in a palace, which must be very miserable.

smile

Production's still good, though.

Yep. Best song of the album. Not sure why the heck anyone would hate this, considering the production on it is superior to most of the other songs...

Yeah the lyrics aren't that great, but eh... Prince can't really write anymore. I accept that.

I'd like to read them too. On first couple of listens I can't absorb the lyrics enough to know if I hate them or not. The fact that a certain someone is turned off by them makes me want to love them lol

Am I the only one who thinks the groove is a little similar to 'Boys And Girls'? Not a bad song, but as noted by others, the lyrics are a bit of a put-off.

Killer tracks! The guitar and strong drum beat at the opening of the song and through out are pulsating pop funk! I'm still getting into the lyrics but so far so good. This song reminds me of a sequel of sorts to Cinnamon Girl. For some reason the feeling and sounds seem like they can marry well as two songs that would flow from each other.

Great song! The vocals are superb as well!
