I almost flipped out because I thought you said it's PS Automatic but much more. It can't dare to compare to that greatness but I'm not going to slam it because of that 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

I LOVE, LOVE , LOVE this song! What a funky pop pleasure! Pure pleasure! And yes I do dig the line "paradoxes boxes key". The song reminds me of something Prince would have written for Vanity 6 or the Time. It's not only funky but it's got a playful whimsical feeling to it and the lyrics take me away to another place. This song flows well out of Act of God.

Waitin for the Pointer Sista lawsuit:
Flaverless soul song. Not feelin it. All you others say Hell Yea!!

More layered Prince vocals, so, cool there. But otherwise this is a huge miss for me. One that I'll probably skip in the future. Don't really dig the lyrics and everything else about this track feels a bit lazy compared the rest of the disc.

The bridge still brings the song down but I find this has a nice synth pop flow. I'm digging it more than I was upon initial listens, should've been longer. As far as I know we can call this a standout though I still consider it quite lazy. [Edited 7/9/10 14:12pm]

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Too bad the shoulderpads don't improve the style of the song. I never did like shoulderpads, though.
It's just struck me that this album now contains shoulderpads and maxi pads.... not sure where I'm going with that exactly...

Which song needs knee pads? We can complete the trifecta. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Not sure there's anything that dirty on this album.

meh. (I hate that myself but it seems so right). Those handclaps in the back ...
Just goes on and on. Synth washes in the middle kinda cool - almost picks up then doesn't. skip.

Man why am I seeing this being played at a Miami club circa 1985? Am I the only one getting that from this song now?
Is this Miami Vice?! | |

That's supposed to be an element to make a song funky. But it's not to me.
It's Miami Vice funk. And that could be a good thing or bad thing.

Totally sounds like "Automatic" from the Pointer Sisters but from the first note it completely reminded me of "Purple Music" The unreleased song from a much younger Prince. I read through 3 pages of replies to see if anyone else noticed the similarities.

LOVIN' it! Yep, I gave in and lettin myself float along on the groove! Not so keen on all of the lyrics or a couple of the parts, but as a whole, when that groove kicks in, i'm gone! "Hyperactive when I was small, Hyperactive now I'm grown, Hyperactive 'till I'm dead and gone"

Mm. Nah. Don't think I'll listen to this one again for a long time. It sounds like an outtake, or an after thought. Doesn't really fit with the rest of the album for me, either.

I like this one. Second track I hit replay...does have an outtake fell, but how many outtakes are keepers?.... PUSH YOUR WAY UP 2 THE FRONT, AND SHAKE YOUR MOTHER FUCKIN DOO LOOSE!!

Lovin' this one! An early favorite! The music is definitely entrenched in the 80's. I keep getting a visual of people cleaning up a community center or painting a house while dancing around in an 80's B-movie montage.
