Doritos and Chips Ahoy! I know a lot of you will that this has nothing to do with Prince, but it does, I remember listening to the radio back in the day in the 80s (forgit the year and radio though) and I destinctively remember hearing about what type of snacks Prince likes in his dressing room. Chips Ahoy! cookies and Doritos. And for those who've seen Purple Rain, he actually had a bag of Doritos on hand when he was preparing to listen to "Wendy & Lisa's" song. I wonder does he still like them.

This is the thread of the year. What is your main problem?

On my second trip to the USA in 1993 I bought a "Peter Paul's Almond Joy" just because prince mentioned it in his song "gett off". It's not available in europe, so I was curious about it. It was okay, but I prefer Mars with almonds.

THANK GOD someone brought this up! It has bugged me for years if he likes the regular or double chip kind. He had regular Doritos, but what about Cool Ranch? Is he a ranch lover? I hope this is resolved soon.

Ernest, there is no such thing as "regular" doritos. He had Nacho Cheese.

He also said that he like 5-Alive Drink. I remember beggin' my mom to get a jug when we went to the grocery store after hearing that. It reminded me of a mix of Tang and Sunny D. Not good stuff, maybe that why they discontinued it.

Ernest, your prince game maybe at an A+
but your Dorito game is at an F right now

There's a scene in the Purple Rain movie where he has a bag of Doritos!

With that combination, his breath must've been We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Both Doritos & Chips Ahoy are not vegan foods. I wonder if he knows. Now I am worried!

We must find a definitive answer to this NOW!

He still seems to like tortilla chips. And he used to have a couple of Doritos bags in reach during his rehearsals in the 80s, according to those who were there.

He's also played some top gigs at The AHOY in Rotterdam. "Had to get off the boat so I could walk on water..."

Actually, Ernest is correct. Back in the eighties there were plain Doritos & that is what Prince is eating in Purple Rain. They came in a yellow labeled bag.

It was probably the Taco flavor.

Nope, the regular toasted corn chip was the first. Taco was after that.

Do I really need to pull out my Purple Rain DVD? Pretty sure he is holding Nacho Cheese.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Easy big girl. The point is that the first Doritos flavor was Toasted Corn, which was their default flavor. What he was eating was not Cheddar or whatever, as earlier noted. However, if someone is curious enough to pull up a screen grab, go for it.

It was probably the Taco flavored Doritos he had.
