Prince trolling?

Did Prince make his recent statements about the internet to stir up some controversy/promotion 4 his new album/tour?

I know he is nuts, but the timing seems odd.

wink

You're so glam, every time I see you I wanna slam!

i dont think he did this deliberately.

he just wanted to be paid up front, either via advances or site membership fees.

he wasnt happy with the low number of people to sign up to lotusflow3r and like he said, itunes wont advance him.

i can understand why he feels he's worth the advances, but i dont think his answer to the problem is correct.

brother needs to look within for the answer on why he isnt getting what he thinks he deserves.

its got nothing to do with the internet, and everything to do with him.

heart

this too shall pass

I was actually thinking the same thing. I think he's running out of marketing schemes...

-hand out a cd at my concerts and make it count as a purchase...check

-play a golden ticket game...check

-send it out with a newspaper so people that just want the news and don't give a damn about me still get it...check

So I wouldn't put it past him to go the Rush Limbaugh route and just say something idiotic and off the wall just to get his name out there again. After all, before this, I don't even remeber the last time I saw his name in the "Must See" or "News" section on MSN.

Game well played.

yes and no.

he probably don't like the amount of money apple is offering and he needs to free advertising. he wouldn't have made the statement if he didn't think it would drum up some interst.

I was particularly fond of this method because it stuck it to the record stores and Soundscan at the same time. They had to count the CDs as sales and he charted everytime he did a show on the Musicology Tour. This scared the industry so much the rewrote the rules and made any future attempt at this ineligible for Soundscan numbers. They knew other artist would follow suit and cut out the middleman namely the stores and the record companies. Brilliant!

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!
