"an artist gets the audience they deserve" - Prince

Prince is one of the most highly decorated and successful musicians in the entertainment industry.

Might it be fair to say that he has spent quite a fair bit of time passive-aggressively complaining?

"they wont even pay me an advance"

"they wont let me release as much music as i want, when i want"

etc, etc, etc... might that list go on? a very long list of constant complaints from Prince throughout his entire career?

when was the last time he said THANK YOU?

just askin.

I HAVE OFTEN,VERY OFTEN HEAR PRINCE THANK HIS FANS AT CONCERTS.

how nice of him. i've often heard prince fans thank him repeatedly for his music.

not only that, but we've showered him with millions of our dollars to show our appreciation.

we've gone to his shows, bought his records, supported his career on and off for 30 years.

some of us have been here for the entire duration his career, always willing to listen to whatever music he creates next, and pay him quite handsomely for it.

we've created websites in his honor, only to be sued for using his image and likeness without his permission. well excuse us.

we've signed up to websites promising lifetime memberships and exclusive content, only to have the doors slammed shut in our faces. because prince was having a 'bad hair day'.

we've intently read every interview he gave about the music industry, we listened while he complained about all it's flaws, while he sat pretty on millions of dollars living a luxurious lifestyle.

we took note when he said he wanted artistic freedom and many of us followed suit, oblivious to the fact that many years later, Prince would reneg entirely on his freedom, and start doing schmooze deals with tasteless newspapers to make some fast cash.

we've sat back and listened to the purple yoda proclaim the internet is over, in as much as he cant crank a dollar out of it anymore. complain complain complain.

nice to see his true intentions finally revealed though.

after all his passive-aggressive complaining over the years, its good to hear he's making a lovely packet of cash.

at least the poor little blighter can put some food on the table and send his girlfriend to the hairdresser.

but i wonder, what will he complain about next?

this too shall pass

I really dislike it when people talk about supporting an artist for many years, and act as if that artists owes them anything because they bought their albums and went to their concerts.

Prince provided you a service, just like Macy's or Sony Electronics.

It makes no sense to continuously be a customer for so many years if the product has dissatisfied you for so long.

You wouldn't go eating at a restaurant for 30 years, but still complain that the food hasn't been good for the past 15.

You wouldn't stand outside that restaurant with a megaphone telling everyone how bad the food and service has been, but still go in and eat.

I've been to Cracker Barrel once. It was the worst dining experience of my life. We waited 3 hours for our food, and when it got there, it was disgusting and cold. We were the only Black People there, so I think we may have been victims of discrimination. Guess what, I don't eat at Cracker Barrel anymore.

I also don't go on the Cracker Barrel website and discuss how bad Cracker Barrel is. If someone asks me about Cracker Barrel, I have no problem telling them how bad it is. But I don't go out of my way to talk about my experience there.

If you've supposedly been burned by Prince time after time after time. It's not his fault, it's yours because you keep letting him do it.

He doesn't owe you anything extra because you've bought his CD's. He damn sure doesn't owe you anything if you've been downloading his CD's.

Enough with the sense of entittlement.

JERKIN' EVERYTHING IN SIGHT!!!!!

i agree. so when do you think Prince will stop finding things to complain about in the music industry online and off?

and why would he go back to WB after so many years of disliking their service?

my point is paris, it works both ways:

if prince has fans who whinge whine and complain all the time and he doesnt like it

maybe he could go check himself in the mirror and recall his own words

"an artist gets the audience they deserve"

what i refuse to do though, is fight with other Prince fans over a difference of opinion

like you said, its just music, its not that serious, so in that respect, its not worth fighting over and neither is he

this too shall pass

Whiny haters who act like fans.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

How the hell has his fans let him down? He's got their money doesn't he? Then what's the problem? Is it because a lot of them won't kiss his ass and think that everything he makes is great and that he can do no wrong?

Prince's fans don't owe him a damn thing. It's the other way around. Prince owes his fans. He's the one doing the selling of a product, not his fans.

Andy is a four letter word.

it's on both sides. Respect all around if everyone gives it. If not...you get exactly what you see here.

he's never going to respect anyone, he doesnt have the ability to genuinely care.

he doesnt even respect JEHOVAH - the God he proclaims as his own.

its all just emotional and spiritual vanity for him.

people been trynna figure this guy out for decades but the answer is so simple.

look up the definition for 'sociopath' and see if that shoe fits.

he fucks his girlfriend all up in Jehovah's face,

is so utterly self-consumed he can't see past his own dick and wallet anymore

most of his brain-cells are in his penis

and whichever ones remain in his skull, he kills em with drugs

musical genius sociopath constantly demands love respect and attention

has NEVER given anyone anything without expecting something in return

has NO respect for authority, or social etiquette

was ONCE a brilliant musician due to his schizophrenic nature he could do most anything

but back it up with some real smarts and authentic respect for others?

forget it. he's a sex-addict fronting as a JW to make himself look good.

couldnt even thank anyone for his Lifetime Achievement award...

oh no see it was all about him and how he and he alone was to make the grand sweeping decision that 'music is in good hands'

i mean seriously, 30 years in showbiz and NO ONE ever whipped that scrawny ass of his into some humility?

all the girls are totally ga ga over his looks and fake lyrics about how great a lover he is

because he's got em all fooled so bad by his false public image. mister romeo? i dont think so

2 failed marriages and a girlfriend he walks in front of?

yeah he really know how to treat a woman.

got a mouth on him bigger than a terrorist plot to take out the whole world

makes cruddy albums expecting everyone to kiss his ass because he's 'Prince' ?

why dont he go kiss his own ass, pay himSELF all the money he wants

and leave the world alone?

oh, because he's still got great music to share?

HOPE SO heart

poor little blighter comfort

in light of that, its interesting how the money seems to be his main focus these days.
