Leno:Ricky Minor and the Band always playing Prince

Just an observation: Have you ever noticed that Ricky Minor and the Band on the Jay Leno show are frequently playing a Prince selection going to commercial break? The first time i noticed, they were playing 1999. Then another night they were playing Controversy. Tonight, August 5th, they were rockin' Baby I'm a Star. I definatley think Ricky M. and the Band have their priorities straight.

I noticed that tonight. nod

Ricky Minor and The Band seem to be very competent musicians, and have a very full sound. But I'm feeling more than I had ever expected that I really miss Kevin Eubanks these days (...and I bet Jay does too). They were a good team. Jay and Ricky seem to be struggling with their comic timing. Smitty was always right on cue with the rim-shots, and Kevin's slide on the guitar always made Jay's jokes bomb just a little less, lol.

Nevertheless, the overall sound of Ricky's band seems like an upgrade to me. Kevin's music needed the space to build, and wasn't well suited for commercial breaks.
