Prince is an awful business man. If he had been a good one, the whole bust up with Warners would never have happened, but it did because Prince puts his creativity before his business. Id rather he did that than become a money driven artist that only makes music to earn $.

He's wasted shit loads of money over the years on protegee acts (Carmen Electra???WTF..) and shit loads of money on projects that were made but never released.

First, of all people I do not think Prince realized or was
planning to be a business man. He got into the music industry to play music and then found that he had to have more control over his money.

Too many black artist have been ripped off because they did not have any interest in the finacial aspects of their carreers at least Prince makes a effort to be in control.

While he does not do a great job he is still putting out records and touring. If he had no money coming in he would not be doing anything. A lot of older artist wish they could be in Prince's shoes or boots (lol).

As far as Prince issues with Warner Brothers. It would have all come to a head with or without his involment.

WB merged with Time Warner in the early 90's. The music industry went from several hundred record companies to five. These hugh companies are only focused on the bottom line they have no interest in developing talent or building a fan base. A black forty year old man has little chance in a music industry that only wants to sell records to teenagers. Prince was going to get the boot from WB and it is much better to walk away from a job then be fired.
