This is in no way meant to be a "Hate-Prince" thread, seriously. But I'm curious as to weather or not Prince really suffers from some sort of diagnosed mental illness. I'm taking into consideration his erratic behavior, paranoia, social issues, and not to mention him telling Oprah he has two people living inside of him. I'm not suggesting he needs to be committed, but I'm sure through a psychiatric evaluation, a doctor would find something out of tune with him.

i'm sure he is just high on schizotypic traits. their is a high correlation between the positive aspects of the schizophernic spectrum and creativity. it doesn't make him mentally ill. most people in the general population have these traits to some degree

There does seem to be some correlation between schizophrenia and creativity. Many skilled artists do have various difficulties in other aspects of their lives. A lot more than you or I probably do.

Even if someone has, how would they know whether Prince is mentally ill without examining him?

You can't tell whether someone's mentally ill from a magazine interview.

Ever since my son was diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome, and I began reading more about it, I've thought Prince probably has it too. You can read about the symptoms here:

A couple of the symtoms that stand out for my son (and Prince, I think) are extreme social awkwardness, extreme shyness and obsessiveness on certain topics, like music. My son thinks about music all day long. He plays multiple instruments non-stop throughout the day till he goes to bed. It's literally, the only thing he cares about. He's only 14.
