Okaaay, but in some situations it does apply. Perhaps I should have referred to "culture" instead of "color"... 3/ C.O.O.L. didn't have the same exposure as in the US (actullally it's really not well known here in EU)
Why is that? | |

...and Paisley Park is in America. Maybe they were all just dumb I remember all that shit - the hand signals, hearing it on the radio & just losing it. That song was THE SHIT, so arrogant, so bold, so Prince... Could it be... :O a Black thing??? How'd the crowd look that night, Lovemachine?? More like coffee or cream?? "a Black thing" Oh dear, oh dear.

Okay... The org sucks for this crap.
But it's not everybody. Dude, what are you so bitter about? Maybe when "Cool" was released it was purposely geared toward Black audiences more than it was other audiences, who knows?? Does all reason go out the window b/c race may be a factor? There's no harm here, just an observation...

Seems sometimes I come on here and I can't resist finding fault in everything, whereas other days I'm all loved up and wanting to hug everyone. I can see what u're saying because race is a factor and there's no denying it. I dunno, there's just something I have never liked about someone saying something is a "black thing" or a "white thing". There just seems something indescribably "wrong" about it, it doesn't sit well. Anyway, sorry for my arsey comment, and on the other thread (i've removed that one). U're alright by me.

No worries Believe me, the whole "black thing/white thing" gets tossed around so much - it's over used & half the time doesn't even apply so I hear you. I just never bothered to think about where this song was marketed & why, yet the lack of response at this show put this question in my head. AND I hear you on finding fault in everything on this board, I KNOW I have my days like that! Anyway, you're alright by me too...

. Not to dwell on the whole "what he plays where" topic, but it seems like the crowd wasn't really with him on that song, which I found surprising. I imagine if P broke that one out ANYWHERE in the States, fools would have gone nuts! Especially since he actually sang some verses. Clue me in, anyone who was there - how was the crowd on that one? Is it just that I can't hear them? Is that song (and The Time) not so popular? Were y'all sleepy or what? They were there; WE were there, but sometimes it seemed kinda dead, U're right. 4 several reasons This is obvious when people doesn't speak and doesn't understand a SINGLE word of English (people in France who don't speak english are more numerous than U think); how could they dig it without undertanding the very meaning of the words? Pretty disapointing. Moreover The Time is not a band really famous in France, only hardcore Prince's French fams know them. Such a shame. And yes, we were kinda sleepy cuz most of us were up very early in the morning (7 a.m.) to go to the Zenith. (4 those who were there at the Zenith, I was the girl who gave numbers stickers with nicknames on to all the NPG members, including their guest, U can imagine that, 300 stickers later, I was pretty tired! lol) Is there any place of refuge one can flee from this insanity
