The Linn is the greatest drum machine ever concieved.
You're so glam, every time I see you I wanna slam!

20 years ago it was real hip and innovative.

actually, 20 years ago, that was pretty much over. in the last 5 years, it's come back. what's old is new again. and if there's anyone that's going to benefit from Prince's signature sound coming back into vogue, shouldn't Prince get in on a little of it?

It still sounds great.
Prince is the only artist who still uses it anyways.
Y R U so upset?
You're so glam, every time I see you I wanna slam!

There is a reason few still use it, better drum kits, sounds, drum patches have been invented, it is still used today but in far more creative ways then Prince's recent linn drum patch/sound output not upset about nothing but you would think that such a musical genius would have found a new drum machine/sounds/patches 20 years later, or more creative ways to use that linn patch, you would think so right

Thats your opinion.
I think the linn machine has the best samples and they helped build the foundation of Prince's signature sound.
what would you prefer? You're so glam, every time I see you I wanna slam!

The linn drums are now a cutch, a safe sterile place in his music now, becasue the sound was hip 20-30 years ago the way he used it, there are modern artist who are currently using these patches/machines in far more innovative ways, would not consider the linn patches/machine/sounds programming on 20Ten at all innovative

There was a time when the linn was interesting to me. That time is long gone. Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

It was hip 20-30 years ago you would think a musical genius would have added some new drums to his/sound/theme to the banks

LOL! I refuse 2 believe that he said that! It's been tha coolest drum machine of tha last 30 years and it still is. Nobody used the Linn Drums better like Prince.

lol well it's working well on 20Ten, maybe Sheila talked to him or her use of it on that football response video snapped him back 2 some sense.

Me too. The Linn will NEVER get old to me. If anyone has the right to use it over and over again, it's Prince.
Just my I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Did you miss the entire 90-early 00's when he WAS using other drum kits? Back when people bitched and moaned for him to "make a sound like he used to"? Change it one more time..

I love the old Linn drum sounds too and I agree about Prince being the master of the LM-1 but is he really using a Linn drum again or is it just a program to make it sound like a Linn drum? Serious question ( I´m not a musician so I don´t know....but I feel his Linn drum sound was a tad different in the past). And he was more experimental with it. But I like a lot of his more current beats, too...just not as much as the "real" Minneapolis sound. And that sound is unfortunately over.
" I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

Like what? The weak ones that just barely tap that the shit hoppers use? Hell, they sound horrible. Andy is a four letter word.

I don't mind Linn drums at all.
I just hope he overdubs the live drums on the linn playing more often like he used to. Now that was his signature sound.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Exactly! That's what made "MPLShit" so weak. It was full of Linn drums but no real ones behind them to make the songs pound hard and give them power. Andy is a four letter word.

Yeah and I hear no live drums on the new album at all.

you should have used the 2010 sticky. no cutting in line.

I like it though. Its a good summer album.
I gave Lotus/MPLSound so much grief when it got released, it turned out that I should've listened to it with an open mind instead of sleeping on it this whole past year.
I'm beginning to feel these albums are the best things he released since TRC/ONA(Piano solo).

It's interesting aint it? i made a playlist of his better stuff since 3121 til now, it's amazing how many songs are actually quite brilliant.
This is a richer vein of music than i thought too.
For example, You make a playlist of ballads since Musicology onwards, there's greatness there.
