I would make him perform "I'm Yours" at every show. This song deserves more live performance...

Excellent idea. That track is a lost classic.

Then why post here?

Is this thread strictly for those who would absolutely change Prince? I just want to state that noone should change people but accept them for who they are. smile

Yes, this thread is directed at those who WOULD like changes. And no, we don't have the ability to change him, only to discuss these issues amongst ourselves.

Agreed.

Though I think Prince is so rich now, he couldn't care less if he sells a single album. I haven't bought one in 12 years, but his hardcore fans will buy every turd he drops.

He has to care at least a little, or else he would not be releasing albums. If nothing else, he has to prove to distributors of future albums that people still buy his stuff.

I still don't know what his priorities are. I assume he just wants to make whatever music he makes and society either accepts it or not. I don't know how much of him really cares about putting in the effort to please his fans based on what they've been wanting.

This is for all the fans on here who think Prince is omnipotent and infalliable. I can tell you right now that you dont love Prince. A parent always wants their child to do better or anybody in your family that you want to do better, you tell them. Prince is not an alien from some superior race sent here to Earth to be our lord and savior. He is a human being with flaws and there is nothing wrong with his fans pointing that out. I get so sick and tired of people on here saying you cant criticize Prince. You criticize your child or your spouse, the people that you love the most. It is such a joke to see people one here say they dont see anything wrong with Prince's music nowadays. I would ask those same people, back in the 80's how would you have like it if Prince would have released Planet Earth instead of 1999? Prince's music is a joke now. It is even worst than the popular garbarge that is on the radio now. Music in general is on a downfall. But I blame Prince's downfall on him becoming a JW. He is totally consumed with it. I remember like 7 years ago I saw Prince on some show with cult leader Larry Graham telling people that Jesus died on a pole instead of a cross. I remember thinking has it really come to this? And cult leader Larry Graham was like, thats right, amen!!! I dont care what Jesus died on. It is the message of love that Jesus taught that is important. Dont worship the cross or the pole, worship the message. Cult leader Larry Graham has totally brainwashed Prince because although Prince is a musical genius, he is weak minded. And this saddens me that Prince is throwing is soul away to cult leader Larry Graham, throwing his soul away to a religion that in 1914 and then in 1925 said the world was coming to an end. It would just be easier if Prince were an alcoholic.

I agree. Larry used Prince to get his old ass back in front of large audiences and at the same time, completely brainwashed him. Prince was much better off being "spiritual." That kept his mind open, not shut down the way it's been for over a decade. I respect anyone's choice of religion as long as it's positive, but his religious restrictions have wrecked his style and creativity, not to mention caused him to sensor his old music. And worst of all, has made him decide against a much needed double hip replacement.

If that were the only reason he was still making music, then he'd still have the NPGMC up and running. But as long as he uses distributors he has to prove that he can still sell product otherwise they won't keep paying him. That's probably one of the biggest reasons for the "shit-hop" on his recent work...he's trying to prove that he can still sell to younger audiences. He never needed to pander like that before, now he does. Or at least he thinks he does...if he would just put some effort into promoting his albums for longer than a week or two it would probably not be necessary.

This thread is for those who dislike most of what Prince has done over the last 10-15 years. I have to say that cuz I expect a lot of "I wouldn't change anything. He's perfect the way he is. It's his journey" comments.

Having said that, if Prince were like a computer and you could program him in a way that would make him interesting to you again, what would you do?

There are things that Prince has done in the last 10-15 years that I don't like but there were things that Prince did 20-25 years ago that I didn't like either and I was a kid back then. There is no need for me to change it or even think to change it or him for that matter because he's a grown man who's old enough to be my father and him doing & being himself is part of why I've dug him since I was 5. My name is not God so I would be in the wrong. The only person who I need to change is me and that's a task in and of itself lol. Maybe you and those who feel the need to want to change Prince need to look more inward and look at your flaws and weaknesses that need changing before worrying about changing anyone else. Just my honest twocents

I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I just think that it is very selfish for people to "wish Prince wasn't a Jehovah's Witness". So yall wish he was still a heathen, partying with the devil? You guys are too much. How dare you speak about someone else finding "their truth". I could see if he was worshiping the devil, then I would be reluctant to continue financially supporting him, but just because he chose the "channel" in which he wishes to worship and observe God....THAT'S HIS BUSINESS...be happy for him.

Do you guys really want Prince to be a "dirty ole man". I mean is he supposed to still be performing Erotic City, and Darling Nicky in his 70's? Some of you guys need to get a grip.

And as far as this thread goes, it is a loser thread...and bite me if you have problems with me saying that. And I posted my comments because I wanted to get my point across regarding how loser a thread this is.

He was never a heathen partying with the devil rolleyes

He just was never obnoxious about his faith till the JW thing came along, that's what the turn off is (to me, anyways) When anyone of any religion is like that, it can rub some people the wrong way.

Other performers are/were JW's as well, but they never beat you over the head with it. Most people never knew Michael Jackson was one till the Thriller video. I'm sure there are other examples out there, that was just the first to come to mind.

Its not a matter of disliking what hes put out over the last 15 years, Im just glad hes alive and making music, I appreciate most of his songs, but I feel (because he is soo talented) he would appreciate peoples true opinions and not "yes people" like who he says he often has around him which is not constructive.

I feel his MUSIC could be better if he allowed himself collaborations with certain producers and people similar to wendy and lisa who can add their own flavour (lol) and bring him (or help bring out of him) certain sounds and various elements.

evillol Larry Graham....how it all went down (mumbles allegedly):

It's the year 2000 Larry just finished his gig at the kit and kaboodle Inn.

Packing away his bass cords he tells the Manager "Goodnight Phil" See you on

Saturday" It should be a great night Larry! Some of the essence fest crowd may be

stopping by if there are no hotel rooms available down the road!!!!! The manager replies... The next day Larry is in mid set when waitress Mable calls out "Hey Larry! you have a call...i think it's some big shot music producer"

Prince: Hello Larry how are you....would you like to come out and jam this is Prince.

Larry: How much is the gig I mean...Jehova has been good to me but he said you would call and his blessings are in aboundance. He said he would lead me to you and spread his word and we could pay him back one day by working together it would be worth more than all the gold in Africa.

Prince: For real...how so?

Larry: I can't talk right now but brother could you send me some ..cough! I mean could we talk somewhere about this privately...like in Hawaii....let me get my stuff packed. Uh how many nights will be staying my brother???? "Tina pack yo stuff we goin to hawai! I said release yoself baby

And the rest is history....Larry's been holding Prince's c@#$% for 10yrs now.

So if i could change 1 thing it would be sending a team of.... i mean sending Larry off into proper retirement.
