Horny Pony/1999 connection Prince singing "for the next 8 years" repeatedly in "Horny Pony". Always wondered what that meant. Then today, watching it live from South America 1991, I heard him say "in the years of the war 8 more to go..." and it hit me! Seems like a reference to the year 1999 (1991 + 8). Its a continuation of the theme of the song 1999: the world is coming to an end so you better party now. I think its cool how he kind of references that by singing, "for the next 8 years", emphasising that we only have so much time left, 8 years to be exact.

He probably meant that yes. 1999 "cant run from revelation, no" had a young easily influenced buck scared back then. Not to mention he added rapture culture to Dance Electric (we got 14 years). I though he would have done much more with the year 1999 regarding reunions and impact but by then Y2K was just a fizzle as well all know.
No more rapture or bobmb culture now in his music. Instead it's straight up sermon. | |
