how weird would that be. Actually did he drop it on some ONA dates?.

Didn't he ignore it on all the 1995 shows?

Yep, i attended 6 1995 Gold Tour shows and there were no 'hits' played. Which was very refreshing, although 1993- 1995 is a personal favourite Prince period of mine.

So not weird at all.

My favourite Prince shows were the Gold and ONA tours - it was exciting to hear the fresh material played live.

Main reason I haven't been bothered about the recent shows is the hits revue setup they've had going - I recognize they're the money makers though, I mean it would be a cold, empty stadium if the setlist was just stuff I wanted to hear. lol

I went to 3 of the Gold tour shows at wembley and didn't play it once, and i think he didn't play it on the ONA tour at Hammersmith. the show was pretty much the ONA live cd set.

Hahaha, i agree, if Prince were to do a setlist of the stuff i wanted, the audience would be like "WTF?" and leaving in droves.

LOL.

If I were Prince's creative consultant I would make these a staple of every setlist:

All My Dreams

Face Down

Empty Room

Black MF In The House

Power Fantastic

Mad Sex

Train

The Line

I would much rather he didn't play Controversy. It's one of my favorite songs, off one of my favorite albums, but I am so sick of hearing him play it.

I have seen Prince in concert around 14 times over several tours from 1999 - Musicology and the ONLY shows he did not play Purple Rain were the 1999 shows before Purple Rain was released so no, I would not miss it at all.

Don't get me wrong, great song with plenty of energy when played live, but I have seen it performed live over a dozen times. I could do without at this point.

I wish!! I would much rather hear Gold in its place. Im tired of the same ol same ol!! ONA and Gold tours were also my favorites!! The new material was so nice to hear and he had so much more life and passion in his music. Purple Rain and most of his others sound so tired now when he does them. They are just stale. PLEASE Prince play some new material!!

Yes, 1994-95. Then the 'ONA' tour.

I liked it. Don't consider 'Purple Rain' to be Prince's best album at all.

'Welcome 2 the Dawn' sounded very promising too, albeit in an acoustic version.

IMO, 'The Truth' is a genius Prince album. Over-looked.

I disagree that the others sound tired.

Some of my more recent fav versions of Purple Rain were at the 2006 Brit Award Show, the Target Center Minn show 2007 1983 1st Ave live recording(with that long intro) and the Trey Songz/Patti Labelle BET tribute show

lol just kidding about the last 2. Actually after hearing those, it made me love PR even more because it's a song no other person should ever attempt to perform

Tamborine (Sheila on drums, Prince on bass and someone playing tamborine) as a steamy opener

than a full band jump on Everywhere

Free

I Don't Want 2 Leave U

Moonbeam Levels

I Wonder U
