Well, he had his Love 4 One Another charity.

This from a press release:

Love4oneanother.com represents another of The Artist's efforts to transcend stardom in favor of becoming a movement. The intent of the site is to promote Love 4 One Another, a charity established by The Artist to advance "the beginning of a webwide effort 2 change the vibration of the world..." Changing the vibration of the world includes founding a hospital and a school with proceeds from sales of Emancipation and concerts that took place between late 1996 and early 1997.

On June 26th 1994 he was recognised for his work with Marva Collins and his contributions to Chicago's Westside Prep School at the first annual VH-1 Honours special in L.A.

The same night he performed a benefit show at Glam Slam L.A for the Sabriya Castle Of Fun Foundation, which is named after Danny Bakewell's daughter who died of leukaemia at the age of 11.

Tickets were $50 for general admission and 150 VIP tickets were sold for $100.

On the 27th June 1994, Prince played an invite only show for a group of kids at Glam Slam. The gig was for children under the age of 18 who worked in various youth groups connected with the Sabriya Foundation. Tommy Barbarella then presented the Foundation with a cheque for $25,000.

And on the evening of the 27th June, Prince played yet another benefit show at Glam Slam for the Sabriya Foundation.

14th July 1994, Prince played a benefit gig for The Arthur Mitchell Harlem Dance Theatre at The Palladium in New York. At the end of the show, the band presented the Harlem Dance Theatre with a cheque for $25,000.

25th and 26th July 1994, Prince plays two benefit gigs at Glam Slam Minneapolis for The National Kidney Foundation. Tickets were $100.

At the second show, Prince and the band presented the foundation with a cheque for $25,000.

These are only a few examples of the charity work Prince has done throughout the years.

Maybe other orgers can tell of some that they know about?

Prince has supported various charitible causes throughout his career. He usually doesn't make a big deal about it, that's probably why we don't think of him as a humanitarian a la MJ.

Maybe it is time for his various charity work to be recognized more?

Has has always done stuff for charity.
