Here is a fact about the cover of Purple Rain:

The Location of the photo was in an alley across from

First Avenue.It was the Alley of the "Venice Cafe" that my best friends dad was owner of......my best friend was there that night to witness thee shooting and the alley scene filming...He was 13..he went down close and tried to actually sneak a photo that was laying there on someones clip board but got caught...This place no longer exists as it was part of the Old E-block downtown Mpls.

Interesting. I'm familiar with the old Block E (Shinder's had a great porn section), but I thought the cover photo was done on a closed, constructed set.
