Sticky like Glue vs. Wonderfull ASS

Which song do you like more?

Both songs are supposed to be minneapolis sound at the full power.

But to my ears Sticky like Glue sounds like poor cousin of Wonderfull Ass a true funk jam.

That's easy Wonderful Ass hands down! The instruments sounds so hypnotic and intoxicating. None Prince fans would even dig it!!

Wonderful Ass shouldn't even be compared to Sticky Like Glue. It is better in every single aspect of the song. More funky, more catchy, better made, better lyrics, more creative. Sticky like glue sounds a lot more like what do u want me 2 do or a lot of the songs from the late 90s.

Kinda unfair, you could put almost any track upto Wonderful Ass and it would lose, woefully.

Agreed; I mean I like both songs, but there just so much more cool stuff going on in "Wonderful Ass" . "Sticky Like Glue" seems like a stripped down version which isn't bad; I really like the rubbery bass in that song.

Right now, I'd put on "Sticky" it's got that old Earth Wind and Fire kind of warm tone, and very funky. "Wonderful Ass" has got that tired old early 80's Prince vibe. Heard it too much since 1989 or so. We never got a perfect version yet. It's good, but lyrically I think the twist in "Sticky" from love to slight disfunctional sickness is way more conceptual.

Sticky has more life.

Agreed. I'd take Sticky anyday over it.

Wonderderful Ass a MILLION TIMES...I dont hear a bit of them being alike in anyway..Not even in a little...Definately not concept wise, nor music wise..Wonderful Ass came from a time when Prince and the Minnie sound was at it's best..1983, but reworked in 1986

Some people think I'm kinda cute
But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.

Wonderful Ass is ok but it's not that great. I don't get what the big fuss over this song. Kinda boring and repetitive imo. It sounds like an outtake.

I'd take Sticky over it.

Yep.

Its amazing how his unreleased music from the 82-87 period surpasses everything he released from 96 till now.

I like "Sticky" though, for what its worth.

It's unfair to compare, because it is a demo...

But Ass is better. If it had been finished, wouldn've been neat.

i'd go for "Sticky," and i LOVE "Wonderful Ass." u play them back to back and "Wonderful Ass" sounds like the composition of an inferior musician, imo.

What? According to who? Sticky Like Glue is a bad simile at full power, nothing more.

No hard feelings.

Wonderful Ass has that killer intro, bassline just grooves.

They both have annoying female backround singers, I like both songs but could do without the excess baggage/

You're so glam, every time I see you I wanna slam!

"Wonderful Ass" was never a song I listened to that much, and it's really given a characteristic sound by a flange effect. But it's a fun, lyrically mindless, summerish, 80's style Prince tune.

Somebody add a flange to Sticky...

trigger it only on the loud beats.

I know you were joking, but another good analogy would be "international Lover" vs "Adore". There were plenty of 1999 album fans that hated most all of Sign o' the Times when it came out, and jumped ship at that point saying Prince had just lost all the feeling and good Prince vibe.
