Create ur own Prince Boxed Set...

With the talk of P meeting with WB made me think of my own Prince boxed sex.

First off, I would love to have 2 boxed sets (like they did for MJ). I would love to have a singles set with the video on a dual disc. Each disc would have a remix or the original 12 in single. Or course the single would contain the original b-side also. For the songs with no video, I would like to see a live performance from the era of the song.

The 2nd boxed set I would like to see is a comprehensive cd set with some outtakes from particular eras.

What would your track list be?

Just whittle down The Work, get the strongest tracks, the most loved, in excellent quality, and perhaps a Parade or SOTT concert DVD for starters. Then release a small series of DVDs, of concerts, from Controversy (that Houston footage), 1999, a Hit N Run show (Le Zenith would be hot), Lovesexy LA, and a Nude Tour vid. CHA-DA-BADA-CHING

Prince: The First Decade 1978-1988

All of Prince's first ten albums in remastered quality. With liner notes and bonus tracks. I imagine the bonus tracks would be the long version b-sides and official remixes from each album.

I've beenworking on a box set for years. It's currently 32 discs and in three parts; singles, b-sides and rarities, alternate mixes. I've posted the track listing quite a few times but would be happy to again if anyone is interested.

But who is going to buy 32 disks? That's hundreds of bucks, if it were released. Do we NEED all the singles re-released again and again? Alternate mixes? Most alternate mixes are just earlier versions of the song in process of being completed. Those other versions of "Gold" and "Endorphinmachine" were just unfinished, not alternate. Or do you mean the unedited versions? EH, perhaps, but does it add anything to a song to have that? The longer version of "Darling Nikki" is boring, and the longer "I Would Die 4 U" and "Take Me With U" is uninteresting in its break downs. But the longer version of "Computer Blue", or "Delirious" might be good. Bsides and rarities are much more interesting.

Pull stuff out that's never been released. I don't want to rebuy the same shit I've bought over and over anyway. Give me Moonbeam Levels, Wednesday, Vibrator, Wet Dream's Cousin, All My Dreams, Old Friends 4 Sale, Junk Music, Purple Music, Others Here With Us, Bloody Mouth, Schoolyard, Can't Stop/Girl O My Dreams/We Can Funk, Train, Cosmic Day, Teacher Teacher, The Ball, Our Destiny, Roadhouse Garden, 2020, Slave 2 The Rhythm, Big Tall Wall, It's A Wonderful Day, And That Says What?, Witness 4 the Prosecution, In A Large Room With No Light, The Grand Progression - that sort of stuff. THAT I would pay for on 4 or 5 disks.

I didn't say I created it to sell wink

Also, the aternate mixes are other officialy released versions or DJ remixes. Gold and Endorphinmachine weren't on the alternate mixes set. I didn't put any unofficial boots on the set except a longer version of Computer blue and a few live songs that I really like, Just my imagination, Blues in C and While my guitar gently weeps.

I get where u're coming from, but I would prefer a singles boxed set similar to MJ's Dual Disc Visionary set. Concentrate on the remixes/b-sides/videos. It doesn't have to have EVERY single, but I would like EVERY video from 1978-1993 or so.

Maybe something like this:

D1. 1978-1980

D2. 1981-1983

D3. 1984-1985

D4. 1986-1987

D5. 1988-1989

D6. 1990-1991

D7. 1992-1993/5

I know. I'm just adding to the thought process.

They do the Rhino handmade series with things like this. They may not sell a lot, but they do sell.
