Good grief!
Why are you spazzing out about proving it to be a ring? and even if it is, so what? Prince is often photographed wearing a ring on his "wedding finger".
I know, right?
Prince could give the equivalent of the "I Have A Dream" speech and some chicks will continue to obsess over who he's with 'cuz it ain't them.
4bjb seems to be quite personally invested in Prince's relationship & marital status |

If something is played on the radio often enough, it becomes a hit.
Seems so obvious that I shouldnt need to be said, yet, someone needs to put that quote on repeat a 1000 times... especially when they talk about P not having hits in his later life... I sometime walk around singing crappy Xtina Aguillera & Britney Spears songs, not because they're GOOD, but because I hear that shite over the radio constantly... bombaring my brain with bad music.
i guarantee u that even if most of prince's latest singles were repeated on the radio they wouldnt even become hits. They have 0 potential of becoming one [Edited 6/24/10 15:28pm] |

Prince has released a lot of crap in the last decade, that's for sure. But I have to disagree with you, because even if his albums were in total mediocre at best, there were always some great tracks on it that had the potential to become a hit if they'd been promoted well. And the lack of promotion ist the main problem I think, plus prince's bad choice for singles ("te amo corazon" for example).
And sometimes prince still writes masterpieces like "colonized mind" that are TOO GOOD for radio. But I still wish that he had released this as a radio single and gave it major promotion. And he could've released "dreamer" to rock radio stations and would have had a lot attention, because it's too good to be overheard.

Bull...shit!! The only thing nobody wants to pay for is...crap! Be it crap music and/or crap websites!
Had Lotusflow3r.com been a good or even fairly decent website in regards to CONTENT, people would have happily plucked down the $77.00 to join, myself included. It didn't make the profit that he wanted because it seriously LACKED in content...plain and simple.
The only one the internet may be over for is Prince and that's no one's fault but his own because he just simply refuses to utilize the power of it properly!
Perfect example of his naivete when it comes to the power of the internet...
There is no way in fucking hell, I would pay $77.00 to join a website that he owned, to just download whatever songs his newest CD has to offer.
However, I'd do it in a heartbeat to see live streaming video of the shows where he will be...hopefully performing those new songs...( Hey Bart!)...this summer in Europe! Which are just waaaay out of my budget for me to go and see in person!
I'm certain that I'm not alone in that. However, Prince will settle for only making money off of the people that can get to the venue, instead of utilizing the power of the internet for what it does to include and get paid from the other hundreds of thousands of millions...of his fans all around the world.
That's a damn shame but it is what it is because that's the way he wants it to be!
I disagree people want to get something for nothing.
If I had music or any other "product" that I knew was going to be accessed for free I would have to charge up front as well.
These days you cant trust a person to have access to that material and keep it to themselves.
Oh please!
Just a little over an hour ago, I read in the Non-Prince Music forum about The Roots new CD, "How I Got Over", went to the website, took a listen to their new music...that I enjoyed and very happliy plunked down $29.99.
My $29.99 bought me the CD, a t-shirt AND a download of the entire album in Lossless FLAC! I have not one damn problem paying for what I want!
Prince's problem is...he doesn't put out what his fans want! He puts out what he wants them to have! Unfortunately, for him...that doesn't work anymore when it comes to MY money! I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart. |

A couple of points of interest for me in this interview:
1. 'The internet is dead' - Laughable. I'd suggest it's Prince's online business model that is out of date. Subscription models are stone-age and Prince's track record is criminal.
2. '3 albums ahead' - B.S. The guy still doesn't understand quality over quantity does he?
3. 'He's a better musician now' - So what. If the songs aren't up to scratch it doesn't matter how great you perform them. A great song could be just vox and a couple of tin cans, you don't need to be a virtuoso to make great music.
Its very interesting that some fans always seem to be "oppositional" to Prince. They must parse his every word and tell us all how wrong, crazy, delusional, and untruthful he is. He could be all those things but I don't understand the desire some have to harp on them. Like somehow to point those things out shows everyone else how much smarter and wiser they are than Prince.
Prince has built his entire public image for the last 17 years or so around being a malcontent and playing games with semantics. Expect his fanbase to react in the same fasion. "does my cock look fat in these jeans?" |

Yes, there are a few members on this site whose agenda seems to be shilling Bria - and her relationship with Prince, whatever that actually is - and they'll try igniting discussion of that on any thread whether it's pertinent to the original thread topic or not. I really don't get the need for the propoganda. Sometimes I find it amusing, other times it's just tiresome and weird. |

No you cannot see the picture from his end because apparently you think money grows on trees and that P should continue to throw money out the window on a site that not very many people actually paid any money to join.
While MTV and the internet are the best modern methods for distributing and promoting music it simply does not work for an independent artist something you obviously do not understand because you keep expecting P to pop up on MTV
the internet works for many, many, many artists. the difference between them and Prince is that he built a very elite lifestyle around a system that he declares to be evil, while they are more interested in their art and their integrity. Prince just wants people to give him things or throw money at him just for lasting for 30 years. Prince thinks the Internet is "over" because he couldn't sucker the Internet into just bowing at his feet and handing over cash. "does my cock look fat in these jeans?" |

But hey We will not know until we hear 20Ten so i'm pumped and ready for some new Prince.

Not that it's anything new.
But I am so tired of these "interviews" where journalists are essentially held captive by Prince while they're force-fed his faith, music and mystery for pr sake.
I'm sure I'd put up with it, but I would love it, if just once, someone could ask him some real serious fucking questions. When he doesn't answer, and starts talking nonsense (always), ask him until he answers. He is so up his ass, and no one seems "willing and able" to take it to him.
Also, is this the same Shelby from youtube!? Can I start making youtube videos with a lotuscrap background and get in on the Paisley Park propaganda machine?

I have to agree.
Back in 2002 there was a party one night at Paisley Park where Prince wanted to videotape people dancing to use for some project (don't remember what) that was in the works at the time. Unfortunately there wasn't a large crowd there that night to begin with and also people weren't dancing much, which put a crimp in Prince's plans to get the footage he wanted. Also some people were upset that they'd been misled about a performance and even had to pay to get in merely so Prince could record THEM for his own purposes. Anyway, I remember watching Prince appear increasingly angrier and more annoyed as the evening wore on because things weren't working out as he'd wanted, and finally he left the room and minutes later the lights came on and everyone was told to leave. He didn't have another party there for over 5 or 6 years, something like that. Of course, I don't know all the possible reasons the parties totally ceased after that night (until the couple in the past year or two), but I remember thinking how Prince seemed pretty ticked off that night and how he holds grudges like a champion, so...I dunno.
My point is that when Prince's plans go awry, it seems like he then declares whatever (or whoever) it was that disappointed or displeased him to be no longer worthwhile, worthy, interesting, viable, whatever...and maybe it's not the best comparison, but I kind of see Prince and the internet akin to the guy who gets turned down for a date and gets mad and promptly proclaims the girl "a bitch" and grumbles about how she's not worth it anyway.
