A Large Room with No Light -- The REAL Lyrics Trivial point - but I'm going to make my objections to the stated lyrics for "A Large Room with no Light" - Specifcially, the written lyrics of one portion of the song are said to be:
"Did U ever feel that life was like lookin' 4 a penny
I just don't hear the bolded words. Insead, it seems clear what is actually being said is: "A sophisticated mass-produced cacophony of no-win situations that aren't right." Anyone see my point (note, i didn't ask for people to question my mental health).

And Please -- no one needs to remind me what a trivial, meaningless, and pointless thread this is -- the whole notion of posting anything on Prince.org assumes it is inneffectual and, in any grander scheme of things, pointless. So save yourself some words.

You're right - it was much easier to make out since he released the live version in 2009. The original bootleg version had such poor quality that some words were hard to figure out.
Technically, there are no "stated" lyrics, as anything you've read is just an interpretation.

I thought the lyric was "a sophisticated mass-produced cacophony of no-win situations that aren't right"
and I think it's an incredible line at that. not sure when I've ever heard that word used as a lyric before.

I think it's "just to swap feet".

Funny, until I heard the updated version, I always heard the line, "A picture of a woman with a DRINK in her hand" as "A picture of a woman with a DICK in her hand". "I Was FINE Back in the Day!"

This is one of my fave unreleased P songs. I've always thought he was saying "sophisticated man reduced to company...," but you've given me some food for thought. That other line is "swap feet," not "swallow pee," lol. "Get up off that grey line"

I always heard sophisticated mass cacophony etc, in the original. Never liked the original much but really enjoy the new version. RIP

I will always believe that's the real lyric. I don't care what shitty 2010 Prince has to say about it.
Personally . I think we are all Boring with No Lives cause all we do is talk about Prince,Criticize and Gossip. I need a Horny Man is what I Need and probably so do most of yas. We are Sexually Frustrated what we R... Amen..!!! - zelaire
