Biggest news on release of new CD: PRINCE IS A CRAZY OL' COOT
Par for the course for our little marketing genius.
Good grief. |

Perhaps you're talking about another Prince, because the Prince we know is far from a genius when it comes to marketing, selling, or distributing records. Dig up: http://prince.org/msg/7/339504 |

It is a matter of opinion because at the end of the day no matter how you feel about P's comments concerning the internet. He still has a CD on the RnB chart from a year ago, he got paid up front for that CD and is getting paid up front for the new one. He is still putting out good records and making money despite his methods upsetting people on this board and the media.
Maybe all of the other recording artist who cannot give their music away or drag people to see them in concert should take a lesson. |

No argument from me. Perhaps I should have put "genius" in quotes. |

I think he means it is over for him because he cannot make money from it. In otherwords he is done with it. It is not over for the rest of the world.
Anyway if he is done with it that means we can see all sorts of goodies on YOUTUBE since the last few months have seen all sorts of Prince material uploaded with no take downs. Some of you orgers need to take a look at these comments from Prince in a more positive light. |

Except for that Musicology deal he did with the free ablbum with ticket purchase....hell of a good deal. Then record companies got MAAD about that and banned it. Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records. |

I have one of those CDs, and sure didn't pay for a ticket to get it either. hehehe Someone must have hocked it at a local Record Town. I found it in the used bin for just a few dollars, which means I now have two copies of an album I otherwise can't stand. LOL
It sure was clever, but a bit snakey, what Prince did. But the real story lies in the drop in chart position once SoundScan put a new rule in place. Fell faster than a bomb over Iraq, circa 2002. |
