LOVE 4 The Slaughter House Album

So I've been listening to the Slaughter House disc a lot this past week. And I am just loving this set! I was always a big fan of the Chocolate Invasion but lately Slaughter House has taken my attention more as I have discovered more delight in the sounds, songs and vibe in this record.

The 1st three tracks alone just hit and hit hard with full force in funk, groove and madness!

Silicon is such a killer track. I dig the strange vibe and funk to it. S&M Groove and Y Should Eye Do That When Eye Can Do This? are both fun slamming jams that must be blasted from your car or home system! I love the musical breakdowns and riffs in both tracks.

Golden Parachute is a simple summer track to me that I can just get lost in. about 4:20 into the song I love the little jazzy feel and groove Prince goes into with the flute, keys and drums track that leads up to the guitar parts. Simply amazing!

Hypnoparadise. What can I say? This song is infectious! I remember hearing this one back in the day and I thought it was so weird but super cool. This song has really grown on me over the years and I find it to be a Prince gem.

Props N Pounds is a great song! I love the playfulness of it and the little flavor of pop funk it offers and the positive vibe in the lyrics. I always want to hit repeat on this one!

Northside is really good and fun but Peace is the killer jam to me! The bass groove alone makes me turn it up! One of my favs. Prince shines on this!

2045: Radical Man is quirky but totally cool! It reminds of something strange and fantastic from the vault or a b-side. Love it!

And the ending track The Daisy Chain kicks all kinds of ass! I always turn the volume up on this track. I love the funky guitar riffs. They sound creamy and sexy!

I was so happy that Prince release The Slaughter House and Chocolate Invasion over the net through the NPG Music Club! Both albums make for great additions to the world of Prince Music!

cool

“When U get tired of the Muzak
That's playin' on that no-funk radio
We gotta taste the bass that'll take your face 2 the Ace of Spades
U never ever thought your ugly face would go
Bass - tell ya one time”

Not bad for a compilation. Out of the two (Chocolate Invasion/SlaughterHouse) i prefer The SlaughterHouse. Some very nice funk on this one.

Horrible artwork though.

One of his worst albums by far, but Silicon wasn't bad. And that album art... just... eugh.

Neither of the above are official artwork for the release.

I prefer Chocolate Invasion to The Slaughterhouse, but both albums are quite enjoyable.

If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

There was official artwork for all of the items that were to be part of the 7-CD Box Set which was shelved due to "manufacturing problems". Sam Jennings did the art. Some surfaced on his website a while back and others have appeared prior to that.

Actually, to clarify, IIR this is the official website cover art (the art that would have been on the pressed discs would most likely not have the"Trax..." text), but the back with the track listing as posted above is fan made.

'Northside' is for me the best song of NPGMC in 2001.

Northside is good. I'm also very partial to When I Lay My Hands On U, Vavoom and Madrid 2 Chicago(2002).
