Did Prince ever take dance lessons? Looking at his live performances... it's remarkable how much his dancing improved from 1979 to 1983 (1999 tour)...

I know that the entire cast was required to take dancing lessons in preperation to the Purple Rain movie.
As far as the period before that is concerned, it didn't really take much to improve from his 1979 level... | |

They took acting lessons first and foremost.
Prince's dancing inproved just because he saw and used what he saw in other performers, adding his own edge and style and flavor to them. It's how anyone works really. Iron sharpens iron.
The statement about taking dance lessons doesn't really stick because the time period noted was 1979-1983, with the filming of PR happening after the 1999 Tour, so that improvement noted above wouldn't have been a results of any classes taken after the aforementioned time. | |

I've never come across anyone that has been identified as a dance teacher for Prince - only his use of a choreographer - and not for the time period you have mentioned. ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift. |
