Ok, it is posted by drfunkenberry, here's the obvious tread, on the BET tribute who would you want to see perform that tribute and what song?

4-Jack White -Let's go crazy

5-Peaches -Dirty Mind or Head.

6-Andre 3000 -Alphabet St

7-Janelle Monoae -Erotic City

8-U2 -The Cross

9-The Foo Figthers -Darling Nikki

10-M.I.A.-Controversy

Bonus:Gwen Stefani-Cream, R.E.M.-Sign O' the Times.

This is kind of surreal but The Barkays with Sisqo and Larry Dodson both singing 777-9311.

Sarah McLachlan - The Beautiful Ones

Chris Brown - Billy Jack Bitch

Wendy and Lisa with Aimee Mann - Manic Monday

Journey with Steve Perry - Purple Rain

We DON'T want to see Jamie Foxx dressed as Wanda singing "Sugar Walls". Last years MJ tribute wasn't kewl.

I think it would be cool if part of the tribute were a medley of songs by people who've had hits with songs that Prince has written (either songs written for them or covers). That would really give some perspective on how much of an influence he had on music and remind some people that he was the creator of certain songs (e.g., I Feel 4 U).

For example:

  • I Feel 4 U--Chaka Khan
  • 5 Women--Joe Cocker
  • Yo Mister--Pattie Labelle
  • How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore--Alicia Keys
  • Manic Monday--Any of the "lead" members of the Bangles
  • Nothing Compares 2 U--Sinead O' Connor
  • The Glamorous Life--Sheila E.
  • The Bird--The Time
  • Love They Will Be Done--Martika
  • Round and Round--Tevin Campbell
  • etc., etc.

I know this will never happen though, especially not a Sinead O'Connor appearance.

For the rest of the tribute, I'd love to see musicians who Prince has himself admired pay tribute to him (e.g., Stevie Wonder, Joni Mitchell, Little Richard). What could be more of an honor than musicians whose work you've admired pay tribute to you by performing your songs?

Chaka - I Feel For You

D'Angelo - She's Always In My Hair

The Time - Cool

Shelia E - The Glamorous Life

Melissa Morgan - Do Me, Baby

Alicia Keys - How Come U Don't Call Me (Anymore)

then Prince comes out to perform "When Doves Cry", "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World" and "Sign O The Times" cool
