Very average cover of Red House Blues, why?

When you got your copy of Red House (purple House ) from

A Power of Soul:Tribute to Jimi Hendrix

did you like the version of the song Prince contributed?

I was supprised how lifless and unispired it sounds.

Prince showcased nothing on guitar and he sounds like he sings

in a key that not suits him.

Rave version was also awful but Prince nailed it with 1986 Paris

aftershow version of Red House.

He totally chalenged Jimi with that version.

Was Prince better guitAr player in 1986 then 2003?

What was the reason his addition to such a tribute was so medicrite?

I like the Hendrix tribute version, it maybe could have been better, but it is not too bad at all. However, i

do agree that a blazing guitar part would have been more fitting as a tribute to Mr Hendrix.

Prince was able to do a much better version,it sounds like he was bored in studio.

Which boot is the paris 86 version on?

The worst part about that studio version is the horrible ynth horns. And the guitar tone.

Take it - like Clarence said:

all different U know."

The Rave version had more soul than the Tribute of Soul version. The TOS version sounded overproduced.

My disappointment was that the lead vocal was too low in volume. Bad mix... IMO.

Prince's version sucked ass!! If you want to hear a GREAT version check out Buddy Guy's version on Stone Free Tribute. BUDDY ROCKS!! Then again he taught Hendrix ALOT of what he knows. Buddy is one bad ass player!! Its a shame more people are not familiar with him. I think he could take out anyone head to head.

I like the studio version. It's Prince on everything, including drums and I enjoy when he sits behind the kit. It is a subtle version when compared to live attempts, but he did the song justice.

The real killer track on Power Of Soul is Vernon Reid's Stars That Play With Laughing Sam's Dice. But you have to have the 2-disc version of the tribute to get that bonus song.

If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Yeah, it´s a boring and disappointing version - as always when Prince covers Jimi (there are some covers on live boots)

Dandruff is the first sign of madness.

Hell Yes!!! Excellent version. I also prefered Seal's "The Wind Cries MAry" to Sting's version on Disc 1.

I also liked John Lee Hooker's Red House which is darker and more bluesy
