THE ASCETIC IDEALS OF PRINCE

Since his embrace of JW religion and the coming of age, Prince seems to have turned to some new kind of ascetic ideals or « Chastity », a change of attitude, a revolution of himself. He has veered thereby straight round into his own opposite. From now on, it seems that the new Prince wants to be taken seriously as much as his music.

Nietzsche, the german philosopher , used to say that « Ascetic ideals are ideals of denial and mortification of the will. » Doing so, don’t you think that Prince has taken farewell of us and of his art ?

You can tell about Prince's Future , but his Past is utterly unpredictable

I don't agree. Had Prince truly taken leave of his art he wouldn't be setting up concert dates in Europe, and attempting to pen fight songs for football teams. Also, he's kinda held on to that 'pimp' persona which isn't attractive, even on a young man. He still wants to be recognized, but he's lost his way. It seems as if Prince wants to be acknowledged in the same fashion as he was 25 years ago. He's got so much more to offer now than he did then, it's a shame that he doesn't really get that.

A revolution of self would mean forsaking what one has done in the past and speaks to growth and maturity. A truly mature person pays his bills, and doesn't find the need to sue everyone that hums his songs whilst brushing their teeth.

!? this is the most purest, beautifullest form of art wink He is living the will.

Nobody with Prince's wardrobe is an ascetic. lol

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

C'mon! He's spending millions on stupid celebrity parties and he's trying to fuck everything that moves.

And you call him 'ascetic' and talk of 'chastity'?

You're joking, right!

The word that best describes Prince's lifestile is pure HYPOCRISY.

Financially, he's all set. He can afford to get, uh, ascetic, as often as he likes.

I don't believe its farewell to his Art or his audience. It is a change of lifestyle. It is the natural order of things also.

See here:

I Corinthians 13:11: When I was a Child, I talked like a Child, thought like a Child, I reasoned like a Child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me.

And some of it undoubtedly is attributed to his faith.

Prince seems to have this holier than thou approach that he simply can't pull off, plenty of idiots in the music industry and in real life that just don't live up to thier religious ideals

seriously,what's the point?

christ some parts of the bible condemn being a celebrity altogether.

what's that saying in the bible ''a rich man chance of getting into heaven is the same as a camel trying to get through the eye of a needle'' or something like that

..prince better start throwing his money away or give it to charity if he wants to live up to this religion he's so crazy about

''now watch what you say or they'll be calling you a radical, a liberal, a fanatical criminal''

Contrary to prince.org opinion, the Prince persona (because none of us know the man)is not a lot different than it ever has been.

He still portrays himself as mysterious, sexified, somewhat mystical, and a genius musician. He still sings about God and sex. He still is about the DMSR. Prove to me how his persona is vastly different from 198whatever and I'll give you a sand dollar.

Since 2001 he's been wanting to be taken seriously. I remember during the Oprah interview he had this vibe with himself that was very calm, cool and collective and I took him seriously since then.

& no, I do not belive he has "taken farewell of us and of his art" he wouldn't keep on putting out music. It's not like he has something to say that's why he write and produces new music. I truely believe "the spirit" is moving him to do it.
