The first time you heard this song what went through your mind? What was your impression of it? I was maybe 8 or 9 and I can remember thinking wow this guy really is into this song having no idea what the hell Prince was talking about with floatation devices and such But I do remember loving his voice

What do I think of this song?

I think that it proves once again that Prince is the most underrated artist of all time. I mean, this ballad is a CLASSIC of the 80s (or of any decade) but it's only known by Prince's fans and some serious fans of 80s music. A lot of know-it-all critics talk about the "stunning" 1999 album but I'm sure they don't give a damn about (or even remember) International Lover...

That is one video I REALLY wish would have happened. I mean, I've got a script in my head about it. Had I the technology to take some 1999-era images of Prince to make such a video, I totally would. It's one of my favorite songs and a must-have whenever I'm creating a playlist for lovin'.

Umm, call me naive nursey nurse but I still don't know what he means about flotaion devices and losing cabin pressure and no I've never flew in a plane before, either.

I rank International Lover as one of the Top 5 best slow jams in Prince's career. It was the best track to end the 1999 album on a high note (no pun intended).

One of my all time favs, along with Lady Cab Driver! I was "growed" at the time and I knew exactly what he meant with all of those innuendoes... It made me want to join the Mile High Club!

This song is in my head everytime I get on a plane. Especially when the flight attendants are talking about water landings and floatation devices.

I was a kid, and I remember we had one of those big phonographic radios that sat on the floor like a floor model tv. I put my ear up to the speaker, and although I didn't understand the lyrics, I knew they were probably dirty. Boy was I right!

first time I heard it, I was around 19 and I remeber that I was imagining the scenery just as it was described, very sensual, very warm, almost hot..

A dancefloor into a warm place, purple walls, velvet curtains, a sensual dance Prince and I of course.

I was stuck to the lyrics litterally but not trying to understand between the lines..

Then of course I figured a sensual end..

I have always loved that song throughout the years..and still it's "just my imagination" but I figure always a kind of Prince singing that and doing all things to me lol lol
