Days of Wild: Fav performance?

Until tonight I would have said hands down Beautiful Experience. But I just gave L4OA another look and, although I dig the funkier groove, I never thought it was as powerful as TBE. But by the time it's halfway into the track, it's totally got there, it's just slower on the buildup. Plus the bass guitar solo is cool (as cool as hagning out the top of the convertible?? Dunno bout that). So now I'm torn.

Anyone prefer the live single version, with the extended 'free the slave' chanting and such?

Or the studio version?

Or a particular live performance?

Me, I'm sitting on the fence between TBE and L4OA.

The Beautiful Experience TV special was the first one I heard and still my favourite. In my head I can't hear any version of the song wihout seeing the visuals from this. cool

Just somewhere in the middle,
Not too good and not too bad.

It's definately the live version on crystal ball for me as it was the first version I heard but I like it in any form as it does have a bad-ass tune flowing it.

For me it has got to be the version on The Xenophobia Celebration cd, though the first version i heard was on the Beautiful Experience broadcast. The Crystal ball version is good too, i dont think i have heard a version that i dislike.

I still pine for a dvd release of that show (Beautiful Experience).

I love the "Love 4 One Another" TV-show per4mance because of the weird & funky samples on the beat.

On the unreleased front, the Stars & Bars show version was particularly dynamic.

I love them all anyway, this song just works in every version 4 me.

out of the 49 versions of this song i've listened to, my fav by far is still:

Glam Slam Los Angeles, 06-26-1994, "days of wild/hair/777-9311/earthquake" 13:14

which is followed by a kick ass version of "Now" with a long groove/funk break in the

middle that leads into Babies Makin Babies.

good stuff.

I really dig L4OA version of DOW, but the best has to be The Beautiful Experience version.

but it's so short lol

this songs sounds best imo when it's stretched into a long jam with snippets

of other songs floating in and out of it.

unquestionably the beautiful experience version sounds full and cool and it

comes dangerously close to being an 'album version' imo. the soundquality

is so good and it all sounds so deep and layered.

but the real live feel only comes through when this song is performed with

a shitload of breaks and shifts.

the glam slam versions are all good examples of that, most of them being

about 10 minutes in legth. culminating in, for me, the best ever take on it

at the gig of 06-26-1994. just tripple wow.

I'm guessing that is the same version I have, called NPGMC: Days Of Wild (Guitar Jam). I've always wondered if there was a video of it floating around somewhere. P seemed like he was in a trance, wailing on his guitar. Definitely that one.
