cool His hair in that pic makes his head look too long and his forehead look too small and it's just not flattering at all in my opinion. He looks like the creepy fortune teller at the Carnival who overprices you to see him do a bunch of weird hand expressions and say luck is in your future. But in the picture down there, he just looks a lot cooler, his head looks like a normal shape, he looks sexier. I'm not saying his hair is always bad, I'm just saying if this is the look he has now, he gotta change it.

Wow how old is Prince in that second picture? It hardly looks like him. But the shoes are a giveaway I guess.

He looks nice dove

I loved this look ... It was more natural looking ...

I agree. It was the most natural-looking wig I've seen him wear.

Frankly, I think P should just deal and shave his head already. His hair's been mostly ridiculous for a very long time.

He needs to lighten his hair color. He is too pale for shoe-polish black.

A natural dark-med brown would be so much nicer and bring out his eye color better.

No streaks of any kind!

In time (like next year) he should also let his grey grow out. His head is mostly grey and he should show it proudly.

BTW he doesn't wear wigs or peices. He looks bald when his grays grow out. Heck that red&white pic has his scalp all tinted with color... that is a sloppy rinse color job. disbelief

He needs to stick to the semi-permanents and in a neutral level 3-5 then gradually lighten to a salt and pepper look.

Look closely at his eyebrows, they are getting gray too.

Am I the only one who thinks the Ebony cover looks like Ingrid Chavez if she had a Prince mustache? The hairsyles are very similar, in my opinion.

This is veering a bit off topic but you sound like you know what you're talking about in regards to hair and hair color...

Long story short, I want to color my hair and do so at home, and I want/ed to use semi-permanent color because I know it is less damaging - but semi-permanents are practically impossible to find! Casting ColorSpa is discontinued, and I can't find any other brands that state specifically that they are semi (vs. demi or permanent).

Got any suggestions for me? smile I want a rich auburn red color.

On topic - I agree with you about that flat, shoepolish black on Prince. Way too harsh and stark. He'd look beautiful with a warmer color. His letting himself go grey would take a bit of getting used to for me, but I'm sure he'd look good.

I don't like his hair overly-styled though either....like all sculpted and sprayed and looking like he's got tons of product molding it into place. jmo

I would really like to see his hair cut close like that. nod Not slicked back, like in UTCM, but actually cut. This photo alone proves it would look 10x cooler and younger than that style on the new Ebony cover.

I dig it. But then again, P's hair usually looks fly.

nod

I agree, his hair is over-styled. I guess this is why I prefer the natural nappy look to the fried-dyed-laid-to-the-side look IMHO. He's one step away from looking like Jermaine Jackson. shake

I know folks don't like the gray hair, but if he begins with just showing a little gray on the sides (what I call a "controlled gray") then it would look distinguished and make him look less "tranny" . lol

Reel

If you look at Prince's hairline, and you compare that hairline with his hairline when he was in the video "Kiss" you can see that it's a totally different hairline. In videos during the 80's you can see the the hairline was "squared off" at the forehead, now it's kinda "rounded". Also, even when he had long hair you could see a little thinning starting at the top of his head. That thinning at the top is totally gone now, along with his original hairline....I believe that he wears some very sophisticated lace front wigs as of recent. Unless you are into wigs and weaves, lace fronts can really be deceiving especially really expensive and well made ones.

The man is getting older, I think he should keep with he has. At least he is allowing fronts that have scalp showing now. Back in 2004, in that video Musicology he had no scalp showing. I did not like that look - it looke like a curly afro.

Although I'm your biggest fan...I'm also your biggest critic. Can you deal with that?

Wigs, weaves and extensions are very common place now, but the trend I see in men is actual hair transplantation. Prince always sported a full head of hair, and he is vain so I would believe him doing up his hairline before I would think he would ear a wig.

There is a section of the black community that hates the tought of wearing itchy wigs and weaves. I worked in a salon that catered to that mentality. You don't need wigs or weaves to be black with have a gorgeous head of hair that flows down your back (I am sure you already know). smile Prince himself has ties with the salon owner I worked for.

Prince roller sets his hair and relaxes it... and that hairline is penciled in, and jelled down to hide unrully grays.

They sell special color sticks for the hairline, its a fatter verion of brow liner. He looks like he's wearing that crap. Its looks like they drew in his part also.

I hear you girl. I disagree though. I don't want to get into a debate because I can't prove that he does or doesn't. I can only go by what I know being someone who does weaves, and is fond of wigs, but I would be unable to prove it to you or anyone else. All I can say is to check out the Musicology video really closely. biggrin There are some really great wigs out there, but a trained eye can usually spot them. I think Beyonce has the best wigs in the business, for years folks thought that it was a weave.

As far as the black community is concerned, I know more people these days who wear weaves, wigs, and pieces than those who do not. Black men are even doing it too:-D

Ok Reel... this is not to you specifically just a general rant because this topic brings it up.

I tend to do this, so don't take it personal... this is not about or to you per se.

here goes...

I would agree, but that's just it. People who tend to wear wigs and weaves jump on the notion that Prince MUST wear wigs too because he sports a full head of hair.

Yes, the black community mostly does wear wigs and weaves because hair dressers have duped the black community into believeing that black hair doesn't grow for the most part. Simply because they don't know about proper hair care, and they want those fast $$$$.

Those wigs and weaves are EXPENSIVE and look fabulous. So what better way to make a sista or brotha empty their purse or wallet. Not to mention lose their hairline.

I am telling you from the perspective of a former hair care technician of black hair specifically, his hair looks too busted at times to be wigs. Wigs and weaves look perfect as far as texture is concerened. His hair texture remains consistent, and he sports new growth from time to time.

So yes, many black people do wear weaves, not Prince. Why? Because a black man or woman CAN have a full head of hair and have it grow down to his ass even with the nappiest head of hair. I know so... ALL my clients had long AND nappy ass hair, unless a few wanted to sport shorter hair styles which was their choice and they all had the option to wear their hair naturally long. To my knowledge Prince never had a hard time growing hair... he's a walking ball of controlled naps.

General Question to all black people....

Why is it so fucking hard to believe that a black man or woman can have a great head of hair with out it being a weave or some sort of fake shit?

Nappy hair really is the most beautiful hair to have IF you know how to take care of it.

And I have curly hair since I am Pureto Rican... and for years I have been teaching black women that THEY have pretty hair, I make their hair look just as fabolous as Puerto Ricans hair too.... all you need is a strict regimine of roller sets , great conditioning and consistent relaxers.

And yes back in the 1800's many men of high esteem did wear wigs, because they shaved their heads bald to ward off lice. Black folks in the 1800's didn't need to shave their heads to wward off lice... they didn't really have that issue... look at pics of Frederick Douglas .. he looked like Don King. Not trying to crack jokes, just saying.

I know that you said that your statement was not directed at Reel. However, since Reel made an allegation about Prince wearing a Lace Front, she will respond. biggrin Most of us KNOW that when Prince first came out, he was rocking HIS OWN HAIR. And it was LONG and GEORGEOUS. Reel is not even suggesting that it does not grow. The reason that Reel said that it is a lace front, is because it likely is, AND when most men get older their hair starts thinning. Reel could see Prince's own hair thinning from the roots over 10 years ago. As far as wearing weaves are concerned, many of the weaves that are done are to add thickness, and not necessarily length. Many non-blacks also wear weaves for thickness.

So I take no offense to what you said, however unless you or I personally run our fingers through Prince's hair, neither of us can be absolutely sure. I stand by my OPINION because since I am someone who does weaves, and deals with all sorts of false hair aparatus' It does in fact look like a lace front to me. And a damned good one at that. Just look at that Part that he has on the cover of Essence. Parts should be the color of your head. You are not looking at an actual scalp in that picture. biggrin

I worked with weaves (netting and sewn in), even wore a few myself. So very itchy! So yes I see what you are saying, I know people wear weaves for fullness.

But I understand color. I was extremely good at it.

See ALL hair thins with age. Especially men. But hair looks bald or patchy when hair that is colored grows out to expose gray roots. The gray root photograph as bald spots.

This pictures of his hair are a mess! Look at that hairline! Its virtually painted on, the part is all coloered. In lacefronts the scalp is a natural color. Look at Wendy Williams lace fronts that are parted down the middle, the scalp color on the wig is NOT black like Prince's scalp. This is an indicator of a color rinse after a fresh relaxer. The scalp is stained the same color as his hair.

His hair is jacked up. Poor color job IMO, but I guess it's what the colorist had to work with to ensure no gray hair would peek out.

Prince seems to fear looking his age. He is holding on to those color bottles with a tight Kung Fu grip with his Little Richard looking self.

Let it go P.... we all gotta get old man. comfort

His hair is jacked up. Poor color job IMO, but I guess it's what the colorist had to work with to ensure no gray hair would peek out.

Prince seems to fear looking his age. He is holding on to those color bottles with a tight Kung Fu grip with his Little Richard looking self.

Let it go P.... we all gotta get old man. comfort

Ok girl, we'll just agree to disagree about the lace front thing. And let us both just cross our fingers and pray for god that he does not become like a Little Richard. If so, someone should just take a razor to his head while he is asleep. LOL

Although I'm your biggest fan...I'm also your biggest critic. Can you deal with that?

I worked with weaves (netting and sewn in), even wore a few myself. So very itchy! So yes I see what you are saying, I know people wear weaves for fullness.

But I understand color. I was extremely good at it.

See ALL hair thins with age. Especially men. But hair looks bald or patchy when hair that is colored grows out to expose gray roots. The gray root photograph as bald spots.

This pictures of his hair are a mess! Look at that hairline! Its virtually painted on, the part is all coloered. In lacefronts the scalp is a natural color. Too late!

too much foundation, bad dye jobs that look like black shoe -polish, rollerset hair, cuban heels and complaining about not getting his dues... oh and he don't pay his bills either.

Yup! Little Richard #2. :eveillol:

A bald Prince? That is the only look he has not worn yet. I bet he could rock the hell outta a Barack Obama look. It would draw more attention to his gorgeous eyes. hmmm
