I don't think he needs the revolution. Why live in the past? Even at the height of POP success-his music move forward. Listen at ATWIAD sounds nothing like purple rain. Sales of CD's are down-because people just steal the music. If he would use the Revolution for a 1 night only PPV performance to support Roadhouse Garden CD release. Other than that-I see no use of the Revolution. 99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

I would rather see prince move forward even if he stumbles forward than see him go backwards. I do not want to sit through a concert where Purple Rain the album is played from beginning to the end. As a matter of fact I don't need to hear him play Purple Rain ever again. Imagine what it must be like for him when he has played that song thousands of times. Let the man move forward, if you don't like or approve of the direction you should stay in the past. Not moving forward for any true artist is artistic death.

Except for it's not at all like MJ and the Jackson 5 or McCartney and The Beatles.
Prince wasn't a member of The Revolution....they were his backup band. He was famous/making great music on his own before The Revolution...well...they are famous because of Prince. His process of making music is much more isolated than Paul McCartney's or MJ's and his band serves a totally different function than The Beatles did to McCartney. "New Power slide...."

We if I could see a show consisting of music from 1982-1986 I could die in peace. There are so many songs from that time period that were either never performed live or only performed in that album tour period or only once in a while. And to hear some outtakes live from those times. WHICH by the way has the greatest output of his career
What sound? there were so many sounds that as Prince said they barely were scratching the surface on.

I'm 37 yrs old working, independant and I still need my mom, am I living in the past?

Touché, Skywalker. I stand corrected.
I still say there should be a reunion concert....just for ol' times sake.

That's like comparing apples and cars. That line of thinking does not compute. The Revolution to Prince relationship does not equate to you and your Mom's relationship. Did you fire your Mom? Plus, one can assume your relationship with your Mom has changed from when you where a child-I trust you wipe your own bottom? My point being, still needing your Mom does not equate to Prince needing the Revolution band. 99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

Artistically.............it is a CRIME 2 the Canvas 2 paint the SAME picture over and over again.

yep, you are right. But the question is not whether we approve of the idea artistically, but whether or not Prince needs the revolution to be a star again.
And I totally agree with your statement bro. But when we think about it, how can we say the words "star again", when did Prince ever cease to be a star?
I would think a man who can get on SNL or the late show whenever he wants is still a star.
Will he ever be 80's famous again? Probably not, but I liked him the least in those Purple Rain days, cause I knew people who jump from one fad to next was crazy about him. They jumped off of the PR band wagon as soon as they got on.
So to have all of the fad people notice him again from the 80's, yep, the Revolution would help, but as someone pointed out to me earlier, it would still have not the impact that the 80's did, not nearly.
Prince made real magic once in his life, when he was young, and wasn't really trying, it just happened because of so many elements playing at once. It's rare someone make magic twice in a life. We are all so full of here

No, he doesn't need the Revolution. He needs a time machine. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Are you an artist? In the Andy Warhol Diaries Warhol laments that the fact that he did not stick to doing the same kind of painting. A band like Motorhead is sort of in that vein, they created something original and they just keep tweaking it every album. They still make great albums!
It's not the only way to go, but it is certainly not a crime to specialize and do particular things as an artist.
That said, reforming The Revolution would actually be a potentially interesting diversion for all involved. It would not be the same old same old at this stage of the game.

A star again??? When did he stop being a star?
Hell no he doesn't need the Revolution. They all look older than he does except for Lisa. He needs some fresh meat that also happen to adore his sound and body of work. A new band with a fresh perspective and no more dancers!

Not true. Many of the greatest had recurring images and themes.
Salvador Dali painted "soft watches", his wife Gala's visage, black ants (representing decay), his own profile, and his town of Figueres, Catalonia, Spain in many of his paintings.

From 1997 onwards (minus the 2004-2007 Musicology Tour/3121/NSL era)

That's unfair. He never stopped being a star he just had fluctuation of record sales and didn't over expose himself like so called "stars" today are doing. He took a creative breat but kept releasing music because it's in his blood and he still needs a paycheck now and then. I mean it's not like he's Meg Ryan, Brandy, Morris Day or even Tom Sizemore. Now those are people who have stopped being stars.

lol I don't think he stopped being a star or a celebrity

(1) Why would you like Prince less because of fans, why should fad fans reflect Prince? I will say as much as I LOVE ATWIAD, the next album should have been more of high energy album that could have bridged him to the next project. At that point during the Purple Reign he could have easily asked for WB to put out 2 albums Our Destiny & Around the World in a Day (for example)
(2) overall I don't think anyone can have an impact on music as it once was. But I do think a reunion would shake things up.

That's because we are all fans. And the years between Rave and the Musicology tour were hard in terms of popularity, specially outside the US...

It would be "cool" if Wendy, Lisa and Dr. Fink got together to work on something again. Wishful, thinking on my part.
I don't think stardom has anything to do with any of them at this point in their careers. It's all about the love of making and performing music (now). Peace ... & Stay Funky ...
