Little Red Corvette cd version "clipped" My favourite song has te be "Little Red Corvette", to bad the cd version is clipped and I do not own the record!! I know for a fact that the long version (vinyl rip) does not have that annoying clipping. Anyone know if the 1999 LP version has clipping?

What is "clipping"? Do you mean editing?

The vocals and guitar (around 1.50 min) are distorted, the long version vinyl rip doesn,t have the distortion.

there isn't any 'clipping' on Little Red Corvette. However there is some distortion on it which is only really noticeable on the loudest parts, but this was due to the recording being done 'too hot' and is present on ALL versions of the song (it's just not as noticeable on the vinyl or quiter mastered early CDs).

Yeah, Prince was not a master at recording vocals when he did Little Red Corvette. It's his most glaring case of recording in the red. Engineers have commented on his stubborn insistence to do it that way back then. I always heard it on my vinyl LP. Some digital rips from the vinyl may have been tweaked by the bootleggers to make it less noticeable, though. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

As far as I know Prince combines his recordings into one song. The background vocal recording is certainly very distorted to the point it realy distracts from this great song.
The vinyl rip I have is not tampered with and I hear no distortion on it. Maybe it's because it's the long version of the song?

i also have this kind of issue with delirious (esp. that final part with the kid's voice) and automatic. but the rest of 1999 is alright.
