SOMETHING IN THE WATER DOES NOT COMPUTE

A friend of mine was telling me that they saw Prince live during the Purple Rain tour and that he did a version of SOMETHING IN THE WATER that was DRAMATICALLY different than the version on the 1999 disc. He said it was more involved and had someone of a dreary/sad/melancholy new wave sound involving a lot of guitar soloing. Does anyone recall that version of SOMETHING IN THE WATER?

It was sometimes played in the piano set on the PR tour. Other songs included at times were "Take Me With U", "International Lover" (only a few words), "Do Me, Baby", "Dirty Mind", "I Wanna Be Your Lover", "When You Were Mine", "Something In The Water", and the then-unreleased "Under The Cherry Moon (as a brief instrumental).

Toward the end of the tour he started introducing new songs in the piano set like "Condition of the Heart", "4 The Tears In Your Eyes", and "Raspberry Beret" (which the band also came in on), plus other songs like "With You", "Still Waiting, "Noon Rendezvous", and "A Case of You" (a few times).

I saw him open a show at 3121 with a great version of this track.
