I assure you I am - more than many I know in fact. I just don't like the song at all, end of.

He poured his heart out as he said farewell to Susannah. Still gives me goosebumps. "U could burn up my clothes, smash up my ride...well, maybe not the ride." cool Priceless and still his best love song.
LOL @ those lyrics. Who was Susannah again?

Is that sarcasm? wink If not...

Susannah was Wendy's twin sister and the so called "love of Prince's life". She was his muse, with 4ever in my Life, The Beautiful Ones, Condition of the Heart, Adore and other tracks being inspired by her.

From what I know, in Dec 86 she was moving into/remodeling Prince's home in Minneapolis when he abruptly called her on the phone and sent her packing following a tumultuous on again/off again relationship. There are reports of her leaving him, but my info comes from Per Nielsen's DMSR book, verified by Prince's main engineer of the time, Susan Rogers.

Again, not sure which version of the breakup is true, but Adore was recorded in Nov or Dec 86, right around the time of their spilt. It replaced Crucial, another fantastic song inspired by the lovely Susannah.

If I knew how I'd post a pic, but she's the girl with the polka dot bikini top in the Anotherloverholenyohead video.

blunt music She has robes and she has monkeys, lazy diamond studded flunkies.... music blunt

No, I really wasn't being sarcastic . But now I do remember that he dated Wendy's sister. I had no idea about him writing songs for her though. I wonder how Wendy felt about that. I know that she and Prince had their ups and downs and I'm sure that she saw what kind of individual he was in terms of women (and or men). I wonder if Wendy warned her to stay away.

I remember when that song came out, I was around 17 years old. That song was a pure infactuation / romance booster for me as a teenager, as I had a little boyfriend then. The lyrics are beautiful. The song is meticulously done, almost "overdone". It's like he laid down tracks and then came back to the song and added more and more and more vocals. I remember me and my teenage friends were trying to figure out if he was really saying "I aint fu*king just for kicks" , we were debating that line and was wondering what was happening with the FCC that they would allow such lyrics. But in terms of the "beautiful" songs that he has written, I'd say that Adore is the best. I know many folks like Purple Rain and Diamonds and Pearls. I wasn't a big fan of the song "Purple Rain" but I thought that Diamonds and Pearls was a pretty "ok" song, but not like Adore. For a minute I liked Scandalous but I tired of it relatively quickly. I think I just liked the chorus.

Adore is beyond perfection and sends chills up and down my spine. I could and have listened to it over and over again. It's the ultimate love song. love
