Is Prince Done With Dr. Funkenberry? Where Is The FUNK? I've been wondering this 4 a while now. I know there hasn't been much news 2 report, but there has been a distinctive lack of Purple there... and a lack of FUNK.
It seems like the site is more geared toward general Hollywood gossip, with very little on Prince, and NOTHING on Funk. The title says, "...daily dose of news and Funk", but there isn't even one Funk artist mentioned. I say this with absolutely no offense intended... I just think he should perhaps change the title, or represent some non-mainstream music here and there. As a general Hollywood gossip site, it's great... just no Funk 2 be found. I'm not totally convinced he had a direct line to Prince anyway. He probably knows someone at the Park, but that could be anyone - not necessarily someone in Prince's band that's leaking news.
As far as Funk artists, as stated in another thread quite well, a lot of folks have no idea what funk is to begin with, much less keep up on true funk artists (of which Prince isn't a funk artist, and never has been). The times I've looked over at his site, it does seem the poor man's version of Perez Hilton, TMZ, or X16online. That makes him very unoriginal. | |

Well he's done stories on Prince recently with that Time 100 thing earlier this month and he posted the Prince tour poster from his Twitter account so that much account for something. I think he did a story on Prince last week too.
It's a regular Hollywood blog that isn't devoted exclusively to Prince but it has stories on him when there's is a story to be told about him. That's all. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that | |

Well, apparently, he has some kind of connection because in the past he was the one who kept fans pretty much up-to-date on news/details of any shows/concerts, etc. regarding Prince. I don't think he ever stated that his site was specifically dedicated for only passing on news about Prince, shows/appearances/concerts, but he does seem to have some type of connection when it is in reference to details about upcoming Prince concerts/shows, and he's been pretty helpful with some of that information so far. I didn't get that from you at all, I'm just letting you know what I've seen recently but one thing is for sure, the Purple World is in a strange and mysterious place. I hope all is well over there. Younger people are too busy fucking to comment. The guy is pulling some pretty good interviews and has been mentioned on Fox news and on CNN's blog roll, so not doing too shabby. But U are right that fans turned there back on J7. He was the only person here in LA that had exclusive news on Prince for years. Now fans act like he never existed or show any appreciation to him. Prince fans are the worse I swear. They did that to that other dude on My Space. His name escapes me. But he always had exclusive news and pictures on Prince to. I think he worked in his camp b4. He completely deleted his My Space account because the rude nasty mean so called Prince fans. & they wonder why Prince deserts them. It takes blogs years to find an audience but he found one quickly with those 2 things back to back. In all honesty, the Courtney Love thing was bigger because of the controversy it started. From what I recall most of J7's news wasn't news but a ton of speculation built on a flimsy rumor. Most of the times it never happened or didn't come close to what actually went on. On several instances he "predicted" things that had already happened -- and then always came up with lame excuses why this was the case. His hit-vs-miss ratio was simply ridiculous.
