I'm in the business of analyzing behavior, and I must say that Prince is a very complex individual, but since we've known (only a part of him) through the years, he has become more predictable. I think dude has a huge ego, I think he is a narcissist in the truest sense of the word, and he's probably one of the most challenging persons to get a long with. Seems like everyone who is involved in him for any length of time needs to almost "purge" themself of him, whether it be through religion (Vanity & Sheila E), or through another dreadful rebound relationship (Mayte). I think he is "Raging" right now with his war on the internet thing, but perhaps at 51/52 years old, he'll continue to mellow out. I think Prince will probably be like a lil Richie, in that he'll probably always feel like the music industry "shorted" or stole something from him. He'll probably always feel like he was never given his proper "due". This is what happens when you look for industry to validate you, and not to your fans. Pretty much every major artist out there has a piece of a website for their fans to enjoy. Seems like if Prince can't make money at it, it's not worth it for his fans. How bout just put up a darn website for free. I mean you don't have to include your entire catalogue, but maybe rotate a few songs from a few eras ie: Sade.
I have much love for this man that I've never met but sometimes the deeper I dive the more irritants I find. He has been truly been blessed with a gift that captivates the mind, body and even the soul. He continues to try and justify the way that his father treated him (mentioned on a Tavis Smiley interview something to the effect that his father wanted him to be the best thats why he treated him that way), but perhaps his father saw an early lil genius and was threatened. Not all parents are good people.
I read an interview with Mayte where she said that she and Prince denied the death of his son for so long because he truthfully believed that he was going to come back to life. I mean most of us believe in an afterlife but not like in time enough for folks to not miss the fact that you are dead. I don't mean to sound cruel, but there must be something a little bit more than grief going on if you believe that your child who has been dead for days is going to ressurect himself, particularly if your name is not Mary or Joseph. As harsh as my critique sounds, I really really have love for the little that I know about this complex individual we call Prince. I wonder if he will ever seek another child, or if he even has another child out there. Whether or not he truly understands his gift, i'll never know. I could only imagine how brilliant that child would be musically if the stars alligned right. Not sure about the other more important aspects of the child (ie. nurtured, feeling loved, etc). It is almost impossible for a true narcissist to "love" anyone because all of the person's feelings ultimately are released for some sort of personal gain or edification of self. I'm happy that Prince is on a formal path of Spiritual Truth hey take your pick Jehovah's Witness or Scientology.I'm happy with the Jehovah's Witness. I'm still alittle creeped out about his relationship with Larry Graham though. LOL.
