30 Years Of Unreleased Funk Bootleg.

I have just downloaded '30 Years Of Unreleased Funk'
8 discs of mostly excellent material.
Great to hear the long version of Computer Blue, U Gotta Shake Something, the Ice Cube Black Sweat Remix, the 10min version of Thunder and the alternate versions of the Graffiti Bridge songs. As well as some nice remixes and unreleased versions of other songs.
Anyone got this boot?

I have pieces of it. I do love it. That rawer version of "Computer Blue" is worth everything.

worth it for Nick Nolte's version of "I'll Do Anything" alone. I take back what I said on that other thread, sometimes cover versions can be better than the originals.

lol I have carefully excluded most of the 'cover versions' when i burned this collection to disc.
I could not believe how bad most of them were.
Still, the rest is top drawer.

all these releases that came out after revelations/testament
have some cool stuff hidden on them.

i've been meaning for a long time now to replace songs from
the revelations set with better sounding ones from those to
make a collection with the best possible soundquality on all
the songs but it's so much work that i never get to it.

i really should tho.

Poiple

I downloaded it a couple of days ago and am listening to it from beginning to end for about the third time now. I could do without 6 versions each of Gangster Glam and Wow, and some of the other stuff is, in my opinion, nonsense, but overall, I like it. And yeah, the Nick Nolte crooning I could do without.

Oh yeah, is one of the versions of My Little Pill sung by the chick who does the voice for Marge Simpson (Yeardley Smith, is that her name)? If not, she sounds dead on!

Well, I think for some it's not "just discovered," but maybe lack of desire or pressing want to get it before now. As for me, I just recently became dangerously close to obsessed with getting any and all P boots I can get my hands on. And I'm sure P is (maybe) still gaining new fans all the time, fans who are just discovering his vast library of music that's out there.

why is it 'wierd'? As 'poiple' says people have different motivations for getting into this kind of material especially as the quality is so hit/miss (even for the remastered set).

For me I was sick and tired of P releasing junk and wanted to find something that was new and unheard which made it exciting to be a fan once again.

Eh, not really, if you think about it. There are still bootlegs that are floating around that some have never heard of, or don't know about (I'm about to start a new thread pertaining to just that). Hell, someone on here just posted about their favorite "Prince inspired song", which was "100 MPH" and had no idea Prince wrote it. Having said that - something is always going to be new to someone at some point.

nice release(s). but between the 3 volumes, there's way too much repetition. never really quite understand why.

if it's just to fill up a disc, then why 3-disc volumes?

1) It's not my bootleg, so you'd have to ask whoever put it together, as you're downloading it for free, and complaining about it the whole time, and
2) See #1.

i'm not complaining. and if it's not yours, why are you so personally invested in my opinion of it? i just find it odd that there are 3 volumes from the same people covering must of the same material over and over.

if it's meant to be a single, evolving release, live a version 1.1, 1.2 & 1.3, then fair enough. why they've got 3 volumes of the same stuff out there is what i find odd.

You asked me a question. I answered it. I don't know about this "investment" thing you speak of, Mr. Madoff.

If you think about my previous response, the real answer will come to you. It's the other side of what you think it is, k?

There are no hidden tracks, to my knowledge. All the tracks I've downloaded are noted on the artwork.

Looking at the artwork posted here, I have 4 extra tracks on mine.

On Vol 2 disc 2 I have one extra track:
Gangsta Glam - Clockin' The Jizz (Gangsta Hurley's House Dub) 6:41

Vol 2 disc 3, 2 extra tracks:
Rebirth of the Flesh / Play in the Sunshine 9:43 (full segue)
Exploding All Over Europe (Rosie Gaines) 10:00

Vol 3 disc 3, 1 extra track:
Turn It Up (Alternate Version) 5:10

Thanks for straightening that out. I wasn't sure what the actual name of the Gangsta Glam extra track was. My version has the "Hidden Tracks" you noted, but "Turn It Up (Alternate Version)" is actually on the artwork and specified as such in the digital files.
