You got folks wanting him to make accoustic and folk albums. Hell, I've even seen threads called "When is Prince going to do a country album".  You didn't have none of that shit going on before he had a crossover hit. All we cared about was who was going to have the baddest and funkiest album next year, Prince or Rick James.
