Anotherloverholenyohead & Clapton's She's Waiting

Other than the obvious slight similarities in the chorus lyrics, does anyone else hear similarities in these songs? Or is it just me? boxed

They were released around the same time... Prince in '86 and Clapton in '85

Just curious cause I spent all evening trying to figure out what song it was I was thinking of until I finally realized that it was She's Waiting!

Well, know that you mention it, I can indeed hear similarities.....but maybe I should rather say "feel" similarities because I really can´t point my finger at them. Maybe the female backing voice, the chords....I don´t know. But you can definitely hear a similiarity once it´s been said. Probably never would´ve thought about it otherwise.

So, what does THIS remind you of ? :

I'm not hearing it, other than the use of the term "another lover". What other parts are you hearing similarities in?

I don't really know... sorry to be so vague, but I can't really place it... the anotherloverholenyohead version I was listening to was live, from Lovesexy tour I think, and maybe because of more guitar in the live version it sounded more similar.

No video, only sound.... but on YT... nevermind, there was one from Lovesexy, but the one I was thinking of was from an O2 aftershow... much more rock than pop

ok, I was thinking it was from the official video which was from the Detroit June 7 1986 show.

Anyway as you said "she's waiting" came out in 1985 we and Anotherlover was recorded in late 1985 so I am not sure it is very likely that Prince had even heard Clapron's song.
