Jamie Lidell straight up LIFTS Prince riffs, Check it out. Jamie Lidell, who is opening for Prince at his upcoming show, has lifted the bass line and beat for his song Telephone from the unreleased version of Prince's 'Jerk Out'.
Check it out there are two versions: The Album version here: http://www.youtube.com/wa...R6TI_ia8GE And this solo live version where it's even more apparent: http://www.youtube.com/wa...eature=fvw They sound great, but I was surprised at how complete the copy-ing was. | |

I don´t really hear any resemblance in the first version but it does become obvious in the second version.
The second version is hilarious. I´d never heard of him before until I saw his name on the tour poster. Funny guy. I guess you are metalchix, eh? " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?" | |

Absolutely. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot. | |

The album version shares no resemblance to Jerk Out.
That's all that matters the stupid freestyle thing he did was just a one time goof. You're so glam, every time I see you I wanna slam! | |

The album version has a very similar beat and bass line from Jerk Out, but it's somewhat subtle in the mix. If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot. | |

----- Co-Sign What is interesting is numerous people claiming he is better than P when it sounds like he is influenced by the mighty minn sound that none of the haters on this board will acknowledge has been ripped of by dozens of artist over the years which is one of the reasons P is one of the G.O.A.Ts. | |

Check out the "Freeform Reform"-remix of "When I Come Back Around" on his remix cd "Multiply Additions" (2006) (the original album "Multiply" was released in 2005)...
There are some raspberry beats in it!!!! Get sexy sex, get funky at... The ORANGE Park - Funky President, people, it's bad! | |

You've got to admit that Compass is a mighty fine recording though right? It reminds me of all of the things I love about Prince and has a raw/parade kind of feel to it (and all in a good way) Makeme wanne dance | |

I have been into him since his LP Multiply dropped and have seen live a few times. Love his sound.
Sure am intrugued to hear how his support show is received by y'all out there as he usually drops a few suprises in his live set which is pretty unique. | |

Jamie Lidell is a straight-up multi-talented cat, who loves anything with soul.
It's like no one here has heard his "Little Bit Of Feelgood", which is a nod 2 Stevie Wonder... Listen 2 the album version, NOT the remixes. . [Edited 5/20/10 7:17am] "He's a musician's musician..." | |

Jamie sounds okay. He has a nice "soulful" sound, which sounds natural, but no, he's not better than Prince, as they're both in two different leagues, and it would take a lot for Jamie to fill P's shoes. I agree, a lot of artists have been influenced and have tried to copy the minneapolis sound. [Edited 5/20/10 7:18am] | |

Figured Me Out is another that floors me every time. People, don't be comparing him to Prince! That's just silly. This Post is produced, arranged, composed and performed by WetDream | |
